Local Boy Makes Emperor - 769 Herefordshire start AAR

For this playthrough I will go back to my roots. I will start as a character situated in my own real life local county, the County of Herefordshire in England. Well on the Charlemagne bookmark the welsh have this county and it is called Ergyng instead of Herefordshire.

Starting as a count in Britannia immediately suggests going after the United the Kingdoms Steam achievement, so that is what I will do.

United the Kingdoms
The United the Kingdoms Steam achievement requires me to “hold the kingdoms of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland”. The exact wording does not mention the Empire of Britannia which is the de jure empire that can be formed from these kingdoms so presumably just having the four kingdom titles is enough.

Let us see who I am for starters.. Click here to read the rest

I have just published chapter 2 of Local Boy for those that are interested.

https://solarcrossgames.co.uk/ck2/chapter-2-of-local-boy/

With the death of King Gwriad, I the immortal player, incarnate into his beloved and highly capable daughter Rhiannon. I am, as Rhiannon, a legitimised bastard, an ambitious genius, a devout Christian woman and Queen over all the welsh people and lands.

I have two sons born in wedlock to two different husbands. The eldest Uthyr has the famous Karling bloodline through his late father Prince Grifo. Uthyr is heir to my kingdom and also it seems to the kingdom of Bavaria through his father. Uthyr is married to a kinswoman with the blood of Caradog. ...........

Chapter 3 out now!

My mother Queen Rhiannon has died. Although she chose my kinsman Iorwerth to be king after her the electors of Brythoniaid have chosen me instead. As of course they should as it is mine rightfully as her son.

There is some war on for Northumbria but it is mostly won and I have other more important concerns. I will leave that matter to my generals.

Chapters 4 and 5 are out. Now with new improved index for easier navigation.

I fancy that Cornwall, the province which Impaler wanted to take from me, rather looks like a nose. So a nose for a nose would be fair no? I release Impaler’s claimant but I keep his nose.
The fever has finally subsided in Gloucester so we can open the gates and allow resupply. I do not want to think about how many people I had to eat to stay alive all these years but they include four of my younger siblings. Uthyr’s vast brood is rather less vast now thanks to me and the Slow Fever.
