London, Roman Britain, 100AD

Barely a handful of London's rivers are still visible above ground, two thousand years of civilization have seen most of London's ancient rivers now covered over, hidden under pavements and streets. This map represents London as it was at it's beginning, when the Roman's arrived.

This map also returns the River Thames to its original width. The modern Thames is only 300 metres wide as it flows beneath London Bridge, centuries of land reclamation have narrowed the Thames, but there was a time when it was almost one mile (1600 metres) wide. This map sees the river return to how it once was, before mankind came along to teach it a lesson.

From Wikipedia...

"Despite the evidence of scattered Brythonic settlements in the area, the first major settlement was founded by the Romans about four years after the invasion of 43 AD. This only lasted until about 61 AD, when the Iceni tribe led by Queen Boudica stormed it and burnt it to the ground. The next planned incarnation of Londinium prospered, superseding Colchester as capital of the Roman province of Britannia in 100 AD. At its height in the 2nd century, Roman London had a population of about 60,000."

Great map, keep up the good work! I love the space limitation that the initial tile presents, and making the rough outline of the Roman city's walls visible in the resources panel is a really neat touch.

THanks buddy, I appreciate it. :)
Truth is the first version I made was a little too difficult in that starting square, so I had to narrow the Thames a little bit and move the mile-wide point a little further east just to make it a little easier.
For the walls Id really like to make them more of a feature in these maps but the game doesnt have the necessary assets at the moment. There is a version of this map I made for CS1 which does include the walls properly, you can see here.... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2830035667
I have my fingers crossed I'll be able to repeat this in CS2 some day soon

love the map but getting an issue when building bridges over the Thames, there’s an overlap issue. Is this a known issue or a way around it?
Hey buddy thanks for the message and playing the map :)
Im not so sure what you mean by 'overlap' issue but there is a seaway along the Thames. Cs2 will not allow you to build a bridge over a seaway unless a bridge is minimum 40 metres high, and even then can only be certain road types such as highways etc, so you'll have ot make sure your road/bridge is high enough, and has supporting pillatrs that an be stretched wide enough to cross the seaway. Another way is to delete the wide seaway and replace it with a narrower seaway at that point you want to draw the bridge.

Other than that I usually use the Anarchy mod to deal with issues like this where the games rules get in my way.

Hope this helps.
