Compared to a year ago the activity on the MP forum is just tremendous. Indeed only 4 months ago I found myself in debate on the GD board about whether anyone played MP!

Although the initial driver of MP BUB seems to have gone very quiet, the rest of the board has really taken off. When I logged on this morning there where a whole host of threads that are been driven by different communities within MP across the globe.

I see about 10 games on this forum and I suspect that there are many more, both one off games and longer term games.

With V1.07 so very close now the game seems to be taking on a new lease of life. It will be interesting to see what this next 12 months brings us and how long people keep playing this game. The dramatic increase in stability and MP user friendlyness have had a very big impact recently and I can see another good year coming up.

Thinking how much MP gaming i missed alll those years with my stupid firewall!:)
Now all those troubles are gone.

Any of you guys up for a new weekend game? I'm kind of looking for a regular crew.

I forewent a lot of playing opportunities until six months ago thinking very lemming-like that you can't play this game with a 56k modem. Well I'm so happy to report that's just not true at all. The experience isn't the least bit degraded with a modem. What matters more is latency, and even DSL & cable can have bad latency.

If there's anyone out there not playing MP simply because he or she has a 56k modem, ICQ or otherwise message me, and we can arrange a test session to see just how well it works. :)

Count me in. Reserve me Portugal, Holland or England!

Not supposed to be posting here (am at work), but just had to get a place in for a new game this weekend - book me in for playing Venice.

And amen to JohnM's comments to 56k modem play, hundreds of years of personal MP gaming has proven that. Even lagging isn't much of an issue either at 2 months/min or less.

Two things I think have contributed to the upswing in MP play:

1) the stability of the game has increased especially in the past few months.

2) the availability of cable connections has boomed in the past year - at least here in the states.

3) (yeah I said there were two reasons) I started playing MP - so naturally everyone though it was cool to play MP:D

I will be running an all day session Saturday to test out the latest patch. Starting at 9am GMT, running through to 6pm. People are free to join and leave as they please. I'll be in vnet before 9am, looking to push on.

hey when is 1.07 going to be let loose

Not any time soon, if ever. I think we might see one in a few months, if they feel like adding a few more features. But 1.06b as it is evolving now is looking like probably the best release so far, ever, in terms of stability, and dare I say balance... I am thinking I will have many more hundreds of hours of fun with it over the next few months.

Sure. The idea of a regular game is good. Actually we try something like that in the DoN. Each Tuesday so everybody can plan in advance. But we still wait for the final patch to restart.

I can say at i havent played MP much until now because of all the crashes. But now with the beta patches i started playing almost everday with Prince Eugene and the rest of the group. Let me say wow Johan thanks for the time you spent on EU2. Thumbs up to you  Hope to play with such a great progammer like you!:D
