looking for a first game

Hi, I'm a fairly longtime HOI player but I've never played mp as of yet. I'm hoping to get my feet wet as a smaller country, maybe italy or spain or something like that.

One thing that I'm a bit worried about is the use of pausing. I read somewhere that there is no pausing in multiplayer games. This might take a bit of getting used to. Sometimes I will pause the game several times a week when there is a lot of fighting going on. How do you organize things on the fly?

I am easy going If we have even teams and what countries are picked can play vs each other. Or Free for all wich I am been doing in my other Sessions with 3 people. Or can just play vs the AI for holiday fun game.
