Pre War (DD 1.2):
I build 10 (parallel) by 3 (serial) IC.
Then I build 12 (6x2) Panzer IIIs and Inf, preferably as much as I can get.
I ignore navy totally (upgrade SS/DD techs) and upgrade air force/doctrines.

For DD, this worked for Poland, France and friends, as well as a suicide fleet for SeaLion. I did get fortress Stornoway though.
Then my Barbarossa petered out.

What I want to know is would this strategy work for HSR (DD version) or should I regroup and come up with a new plan?
It took me till October 2nd or so to top off Poland since most of their army escaped my encirclements (in HSR).
On the flip side, AI Japan actually DIDN'T get thrown back immediately by China.
Note, the examples are from my current game, which is saved just a bit after I beat Poland, but before France.

If it matters, I play Normal/Normal.

In my opinion you should concentrate on either Britain or Soviet Union, not on both. What was your problem with Barbarossa; TC, too few units, not enough encirclements...?

You _must_ make the best use of German armoured spearheads before Soviet reorganization events and defensive line events fire. As your Polish campaign took longer than what it should, perhaps you should polish your encircling skills a bit? Red Army must not be allowed to escape from encirclements as they will get more than enough troops without letting them keep their original army!

Also air force is invaluable force multiplier on Barbarossa. Use your CAS and TAC (once armours are advancing far enough from your CAS range) to pave the way for armoured units to do their "thunder blitz" ove Dnepr and to the Don. Then when the Soviet events fire just sit tight, regroup and wait for the infantry to arrive there.

Well, it's moot as I'm playing vanilla again, but in that vanilla game, I wasn't able to encircle enough.
I did small ones, but not the all-mighty 40 div ones.
I also neglected air support...
I know I need to polish my skills...I'm a noob. :)

well it so DOES matter. :) normal doesn't really need a strategy

You're gonna make me cry :(.

Those are just house rules.
I don't use them.
Besides, I place ICs in provinces with plenty of it already, so I probably *play* by the rules unintentionally anyway.

If you follow the hsr rules, you can't build so much IC. There's a limit to the factories you can build: province's manpower x 2. Am I wrong?

Yes. It's house rule. But I got Anchuluss and inherit an ongoing Austrian factory which violate the rule. I let it pass.

I play most of the time at level Grofaz. So i dont mind the house rules. Its already hard enough.

Back to the subject:

It depends on which level u play. But most of the time it isnt a bad idea to make a plan which object(s) u want to achive for the next year(s).

If u go for ussr/barbarossa make sure your tc is good and get as fast to moscow and baku/ukraine. Build lots of INF. U get lot of tanks via events so don't build them. They kill your resources and TC.

Take only important provinces. Provinces with less or no industry/points resources are a big waste and a killer for your tc.
Release Ukraine and Baku as puppets.

For brittain there are many ways that maybe will work. But my experience when playing at Grofaz i only can land in Brittain with paratroopers in combination with marines. All other combinations failed for me at Grofaz. With paratroopers u don't have the stacking penalty and u have a second attack from another direction (the sky).

Make sure u also have a lot of tact/CAS bombers to bomb the hell out of the province u gonna attack for landing. After u succeed in the landing, move many normal troops/tanks as fast as u can in. SS divisions are really good to use.

I don't need to master encirclement strategies, I allready have the wave down... :D Straight then slightly back... Go foward, retreat a little (to reorganise) and go at it again!! (Damn, I sound like by g/f)
