Hey I am thinking about starting a danish Aar.

What I am looking for is my heirs.
I would like to send the throne to a new heir (player) every time a king dies. Then the dead kings would post their exploits in an Aar over at that forum.

The trick is that each king must play up to his derangements and traits.

ie a coward must play to avoid battle at all cost. giving up titles rather than fighting.
Cruel schemers are expected to use intrigue a lot.
Crusaders are to give damn about all but the conversion of the heathens.
Megalomaniacs take on France and England.

I would as current king pick my heir from the players who are interested in joining.

Requirements:

Crusader kings 1.01 (with Danish inheritance fixed (using the fix stickied on the top)
capability to transfer save files.

I would like each recruit to write a few lines about his experience with paradox games and crusader kings.
Some notes on how he intends to run the game.
Also I would not pick people based on how good players they are.
writers of interesting aar or people who offers cool angles will be prefered.

I would like to note the following about myself.

I am relatively old paradox gamer, having played Eu2, HOi, Victoria and now CK. I was never a good player, lacking the time.
I haven't written a single Aar yet, except a short danish in vicky which ended with pruessians in 1848.

anyone interested in this project?

I'd be interested; most interested in a warring character, but intrigue is fun too!

ed: (played EUII, HoI, Vic / Quite good / No Paradox AAR written)
ed: I can also supply space for file distribution and misc hosting on own server if needed

Your best bet would be to ask on the CK AAR fourm.

In fact, I'll move this thread over there where it belongs. :)

Ah, if only I had this game already! I'd do it in a heartbeat. If you're still looking by the time I get CK, count me in :)

In my experience the coward trait shows up for almost every ruler at sometime in his life due to the rumor event. Maybe this one trait can be ignored when playing in character.

I too am a veteran from EU1 days and not a great player. The only AAR you will find from me is a short one in the CoW section.

However, if you need another heir to the throne, just PM me here on the forum. :)

If I find the time I'll gladly join in :) I'm probably an average player, having played EU2, Victoria and now CK. Haven't written any AAR before but plan to do so soon. Usually playing relaxed/peaceful with focus on economical/technological development, rarely taking military risks.

Cool. Tonite starts it kicks off.

I wil take Svend Estridsson.
Most likely I will have the Count of Slesvig as my heir apperant but that is subject to change.

Also note the rules I will be using are:

"Crusaderkings 1.01 with danish inheritance bugfix"
normal/normal
1066 scenario.
There will be no landgrabbing from the Pagan

Svend is wise and Midas-touched and so on an will probably be most concerned with building his provinces, he is also lustfull so getting a high-fertile young wife is probably not unthinkable either, the heir apparant will perhaps change if any lives long enough.

Svends military ambitions are small but he might try to get control of Sjaelland back to the Danish Crown and to take over Rügen if an opportunity presents itself.

What's the succession law of Denmark?

Election at the beginning of the WC. Strongest male vassal (or if failing that, court member) within the kingdom takes over the helm upon the current king's death.

Excellent, then I'll feel right at home :D

Hey Gustav_Dk, to what extent is each ruler allowed to fiddle around with the various laws?

Oh, and a perhaps silly question... if you'll start playing with Svend Estridsson, presumebly 'til he dies, why would the rest of us have to install the danish inheritence bugfix? I presume you'll be posting the save file for the next player, so then it'll already be fixed...

I'm also game for writing a part of the tale. I've been playing the danish empire until middle of 1200 (from 1066) and had quite a bit of success. but I have never written an AAR yet although I'm vurrently working on a scottish one, which isn't fir for publication just yet (want to finish it before i start posting)

Thanks for considering me!

/Karsten

I think short crusades against pagan neighbours should be ok?
None of this taking all of the provinces around the Baltic, but a grabbing a province and installing a Bishop should be allowed just to make sure the pope knows the danes love him ;-)

As soon as Deus Vult happens Crusading will be okay.

I start playing now.

ps. Dont know jack about the technical stuff...
I don't know if my save file will work without Danish inheritance bugfix.

If Svend has died and the right son inherits when you stop playing, then I'm sure there's no need for the rest of us to get the bugfix.

Oh, and good luck with the game :)

Ah, excellente! :D Nice to see you're doing well. Looking forward to the first AAR post.

So, how's the potential heir looking? If he's too old it won't be much gameplay... and who will play him?

Also, is it alright for us to change the laws as we please? Perhaps not inheritence law, but the others.

Svend died to day.

I pmed the heir (who will be publized when/if he accepts.

at His dead Svend E. was king of Denmark and Lithaunia (whatever its called)

Had a host of bastards.

His political testament for his sons involves suggesting attacks on the King of Germany (holy Roman emperor Heinrich or whoever) and to that end he has fabricated claims on Holstein and Hamburg.
Also some claims in sweden.
Svend has seen constant crusading the last 12 years of his reign so his man power is a little exhausted (still around 14000 men though)

I will post the Aar over the weekend (I am studying for exams at university and trying to maintain a girl friend besides CK)
