Losing Captured Territories

I was on Germany's side and we were kicking the allies out of North Africa and France.

As Italy I did my part in capturing many French territories in North Africa, the middle east and some of their home provinces...including Vichy.

Then, without warning Vichy France was created!!!!!

I lost everything to Vichy France!! Why?? Is that a bug or it's supposed to be that way.

How does Italy keep a piece of the pie when at WAR with France before Vichy takes it all back!

If the German player accepts vichy when he is prompted for it then all land is lost to Vichy. However the German player can elect not to accept Vichy France and take it all. In that case all the land you got would stay Italian. The down side is now you have more spots for the allies to land in Europe. Personally there are many times I elect to take all of France. It has its up ands downs.

It is the same with the Bitter Peace with the Soviets. I was Italy and I had over 1/2 of the country and Germany got all of my land when it had the Bitter Peace.

ITALY IS LEFT-OUT...SO WHY BOTHER?

Obviously Italy is left out of the peace negotiations between France (Vichy Event) and Russia (Bitter Peace) so why even bother to help out the Germans if you can't hold onto the conquered lands that you've bled over?

You don't get any IC's...any manpower...any of anything!! Soooo...why bother invading when you can keep your forces at home. Or for that matter conquering British territory.

Any feedback...?? Send it this way!!

Make a Deal with Germany

Make it a part of your negotiations for forming the alliance that Germany will not select Vichy. Given the bug in supply tracing through Vichy territory, there are sound strategic reasons to forego Vichy anyway. As Italy, I would not take too big a role in Russia as I think the Axis have to take the bitter peace option if given. It's too hard to annex USSR and you cannot fight USSR and USA at the same time. So Germany should take the load in USSR and Italy can support the overall war effort either by defending western Europe, conquering Africa, conquering Middle East, or something complementary like that.

You need to look at this game globally. If Germany falls, YOU fall. Its that simple.

If you want to be totally mercenary about it, I'm sure Afrika Korps be a big help against the Allies on the Dark Continent.
