Loss of Save - Temporary Fix

Hey Lamplighters,

There is currently an unfortunate bug in the game causing troubles with savefiles if you play the game via Xbox. We're terribly sorry that this has affected you ❤

We're currently working on a fix for this and will have it out ASAP. We will be letting you know as soon as a fix is live.

Until then, here's how to avoid losing saved progress:

1. Do not create more than 1 Manual saves.
The 1st time you save:Choose "Save Game" > select your active campaign in the left columnThere will be no saves in the right column > choose “Save Game" to create your first manual save.

The 2nd time you save:Choose "Save" > select your active campaign in the left column > select your most recent manual save in the right column > Choose “Overwrite Save”

2. Remove extra Manual saves.
Make sure to rely on the one manual save you do in step 1. If other Manual saves are present in a campaign:Select them and choose “Delete Save Game”

3. Do not create multiple campaigns for the same playthrough
A few campaigns for different playthroughs is fine.

Autosaves:
The autosave runs when leaving the hideout to go to a mission, at the start of each mission, and again when you complete a mission and return to the hideout. You can choose to resume from these in the Load Game menu.

You can use your Manual Save to save partial progress through a mission!

Autosaves don’t work. Game crashes going to the hideout or leaving hideout breaking the autosave. Are you sure this shouldn't be put back into QA?

do we get r saves back because im not playing this game again if not.. i lose like 5 hours of gameplay and some of the mission is not fun to repeat....

We're terribly sorry this bug made it through QA. Unfortunately it's been a tricky one as it's originating in the Game Pass cloud saving feature. No, unfortunately you will not be able to regain lost savefiles due to the nature of this issue.

We have good news; a fix for this is coming today!

We will let you know as soon as the fix is live and ready to be downloaded.

Autosaves dont save as the game crashes and no autosaves are make. Again like other this has happened multiple times now and have lost hours of progress. Will the updated "fix" only address the saves or will it adress the constant crashing as well?

Again, I am terribly sorry to hear how this has affected you, it is very unfortunate.

The crashes and save-issues are related, so they should both be fixed in the update we just released! Please try updating and do let us know if this resolves the issues for you.

Glad to hear its a known issue and being addressed. I ran into this and lost several hours of progress, playing the PC gamepass version. I'd created multiple manual saves and also had autosaves and they just dissapeared on my next play session, which was really frustrating. I still havent decided if I will return to the game, its hard to go back after lost progress. I don't trust the gamepass version anymore at least.

The update seems to have introduced an issue for me. Playing on game pass pc, if I overwrite a save it just deletes the old save but doesn't make a new save, also the 'new save' box doesn't appear. I found a workaround by deleting on old save I create the 'new save' box which I can then save successfully to. I really need a reliable manual save function (and autosaves at turn end would be great to), with small children I'm grabbing short sessions and I don't have the luxury of just finishing up a fight before saving.

Fix has not worked. Im now stuck on mission "the other side", week 15. The save updated to a manual save of 532pm 10/6/2023. There are 3 other Auto saves, all under one campagin. Game is updated. I play through the mission, I make a manual save overwriting the previosu manual save after taking out each generator. On the final stage of the mission, the game starts to stutter, framerate drops, audio crackles and goes to shit, I make a final overwitre save after beating the mission and I extract...game shits itself crashes to a black screen for 5 mins, quits to the dahsboard and when i reload the game.....all progress gone, no save data updated. Im literally stuck and cannot proceed with the game.

Its crashed again, after another wasted hour+. After the video above, went to extraction point, 3 mins of black screen and dashboard, and shockingly....no updated saves. Ive now uninstalled as the game is in an unplayable state. How this made it past testing is staggering.

Hi, I'm having an issue with the ability "Bug Sucker Punch" in my game. It appears to be disabled and grayed out. When I click on it, a message pops up saying that no one is in range. I have tried reinstalling the game and even starting over from the beginning, but the ability still isn't working. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Same here, also on PC Game Pass - can't make new manual saves and my existing saves get deleted if I try to overwrite them.

I was near the end of a mission, so I finished it and the autosave in the Hideout works, but manual saves do not.

Putting the game on hold right now and will hope for a fix.
I'll also echo the sentiment mentioned earlier, that if I were to lose my progress entirely, I'm dropping the game for good.

Game is great, but I also have this bug on Xbox (Series S). It does not appears on the start, only after week 5-6 bug begin to appear with the savings. Now I am on the week 17 and this is very big trouble for this moment - bug turning off game on each second saving, sometimes it turn off game even if team open door and come to some building or just finish battle, so it can be possible that something wrong with cloud data uploading or saving. please fix it ASAP. Because I jumped in a game with the head and what to relax while playing (I even minimized graphic options - in case maybe this is because low resources on xbox series s, bug always appears on big maps and never at homeisland, but it didnt help) . and you didnt fix it on a Friday as I see, so what is the info from the team about bug fix?

Playing on Xbox Series X.Right now the state of the game is unplayable and thats too bad cause its a great game.Countless crashes on dashboard and of course loss of saves…..The workaround by using only 1 manual save slot for the time being works as far as the loss of saves but not for the crashes and i feel like i live on the edge with only one save slot ….
cant bare the idea of losing everything…..Any ETA on upcoming patch cause the last update 3 days ago did nothing….

Just to add the same really and I've got the latest patch installed, I love this game and it's great fun, but I'm on the verge of giving up with it as it's currently unplayable in it's current state. The loss of saves has cost me a lot of hours in having to replay really tough missions and the crashes to desktop are far too many to mention. Complete a mission, it crashes, start a mission it crashes, lower a ladder in a mission, it crashes etc etc. Please fix this asap otherwise I'll be moving on to something else which will be a real shame.

And the "temporary fix" is unnacceptable because it still makes us players delete saves down to 3, I lost my most recent saves because of that. I just didn't lose progress because of the after-mission autosave, but it was when I stopped playing. As a dev, I might understand the reasoning of only allowing 3 manual saves, but not the one about deleting saves when you save and you have more than three. You could implement a warning to Game Pass players about that and ask them to manually reduce to 3 manual saves or less before trying to save a new game manually. This is just unnacceptable to have players need to come to your forums to learn about the issue instead of just warning them ingame through a popup or warning, as it is a very frustrating and possibly gamebreaking issue.
