I really like the 3rd battle in the German Campaign. Trying to hold back the allied attack on the left with minimal units, all the while spamming units to "Fast road" it to the evac point is intense.

Yes, that would be really neat.

By the way, for anyone having difficulties with the german campaign, @RagingRusski gave a nice walkthrough in this post:

Have there been balance changes to the game since that guide was written that might affect the campaigns? I tried the first scenario last night with the setup recommended, and the group in the corner blocking the road got absolutely swarmed by allied tanks. It looked like the other german forces in that scenario barely put up a fight.

Might be, not sure about that. Eugen said they can balance the campaign independently from skirmish/multiplayer, but I don't know if they did.

The campaigns are really challenging. As a completely new player to this type of games, it was really rewarding when I succeed with all the missions.

Now, the US campaign is very easy, basically you don’t have to pay attention to your units, just spam them all and win. Therefore, when you play the other two campaigns it may be frustrating at the beginning.

Starting from the German campaign the situation changes A LOT. I found the German campaign the most difficult one, maybe because it was such a big difference after the US campaign and while playing the last campaign I was already used to the higher difficulty. What you really have to do is pay attention to your units. If you lose too many units of one type (for example phase A infantry) then your next mission may turn nearly to impossible to win, and even if you manage the last mission will be a nightmare.

Mission 1.

Corner group:
2x motorised pack 40, 1 pack 38, 1 French tank command

Crossroad group:
2 pzGrenadier whenever possible in the house around the corner to use their anti tank launchers (send the transport near the corner group to kill enemy infantry trying to get too close).

North East city:
I used 2 ammo truck, 1 LRM, sometimes 1 pak 38 and it was enough (if you have points you can buy 1 motorised pack 40).

When the match start buy 2x Stukas whenever possible and use them to stun group of allied tank only when they engage your Paks.
Then near to the end you can buy another LRM and pound the crossroad from the West.

Use the LRM in the North East city to crush the enemy anti tank guns or infantry blobs (the 88s will finish the job).

Mission 2.

Place your troops near the East side of your deployment area:
2 X 20mm sdkfz reco (2 men team), 1 French tank command, 4 support Pz4 (short 75).

Once the fight start, go full north with your troops avoiding the enemy area. When you arrive into the city North of the map, go West next to the river and go back South following the river side road.
During this phase, buy 1 Stuka and use it to target the mortar located on the other side of river (2 bombing run should be enough), then buy a fighter to strafe any targets of opportunity, especially the British Pak or any other mortar.
Once you done this, buy one other fighter (to kill enemy bomber) and another Stuka.

Your vehicles should be able to get right into the enemy rear and wreck havoc. There will be a couple of house on your side near the bridge, disembark one reco team near the little bocage to spot the enemy and go forward killing everything in the process.
When you get close to the houses, use the 2nd Stuka (if available) to bomb the houses and enable your 2nd SDKFZ to unload its reconnaissance unit there.

Finally proceed to destroy all enemy resistance, and rush the bridge when possible with the command tank and your Pz4s, use again the 1rst Stuka to bomb the infantry close to the bridge allowing you to cross it without any resistance. Be careful as the British Pak may have a sight on the road next to the houses, use your fighters to strafe it.

Note: Enemy reinforcements will come when you'll be fighting your way to the bridge, let one SDKFZ and maybe one Pz4 behind to kill their incoming transport vehicles.

If doing well you should be able to finish this mission with a perfect: 0 losses.

Interesting approach to the top city in German 1.

I found putting all my points into mobile units (mech inf, tanks, s307, some aa and a mortar) up top and then waaaghing forward was pretty effective and also way more fun. Killed pretty much everything until tanks started showing up in the north, then put all my dudes in transports and rolled south to hit the enemy in the rear. This method saved both flaks.

As far as town in bottom, you can defend it with AT infantry and some light arty which doesn't even need to be there at start. I found it also helps to have some troops in the western town in good ambush spots so long as you remember to pay attention and move them into better AT positions when enemy tanks start nosing through.

Mission 2 I pretty much agree with except that I stuck infantry in all the spawn points up top and this prevented enemy ground units from spawning. Then I wheeled around and hit the paras in the open.

Problem with the campaigns is that they're too easy for Wargame veterans and too hard for new players. Difficulty settings are definitely needed here, even if it's something as artificial as just changing enemy accuracy and morale.

I must say I found it a nice change that the campaign was difficult. In most games, you just roll on through without too much worry. With this one, I had to redo mission 3 of the German campaign when I simply didn't have enough units to win in the final mission. This was after I had practised enough that I could beat the AI in SP and even win a MP game against another newb.

Having said that, an easy for people struggling even more than I did, or a brutal setting for those cruising though after years playing previous Eugen games couldn't hurt.

The Epsom game doesn't seem quite fair. The best English tanks, the Churchills, are under ai control , and the ai promptly sends them into at ambushes. And so very quickly all that's left of the Churchills is smoking wrecks. It's nearly humanly impossible to get the 25 pdrs on map and dismounted in time to stop this. So why is the German ai better than the English ai? Once the Churchills are gone the English really have no hope of taking the town...The code should be rewritten to give at least some of the Churchills to the human player...

You have an AVRE available. If you don't do anything dumb with it, the Germans have nothing that can hurt it until you actually take the town. Your rifle squads have an advantage in close quarters and you can use vickers teams for firepower at range.

While there's not a whole lot you can do to save the tanks that come in phase A, another wave of AI tanks will show up in phase B and you should be able to help deal with the AT guns by that point. Any churchills you save will become available for the next mission for yourself.
