LOW FPS on good PC

Description​

My game runs at 6 fps. I have AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D 12-Core and GF RTX 3070. My game loads normally (i have 600 hrs in the game. I was able to play until 1935 without lags on the highest resolution). But I reinstalled Steam (uninstalled all games, uninstalled Steam, deleted all files that remained, downloaded Steam and Vicky 3 - no mods). I did this two times in a row. I don have problems running HOI 4 EU IV CK3

Steps to reproduce​

starting a game, game loads normally, in main menu game drops to 6fps (stays also ingame)

I just want to add, i re-downloaded the game 4 times during the weekend. unsubscribing all mod. uninstalling vicky 3, removing steam. deleting all files. downloaded new Steam package, changed dictionary for steam downloads and the problem stays. When I change my RTX 3070 to Microsoft, ma FPS goes to classical 40in menu (game is lagging of course). I am playing HOI4, CK3 and EUIV with no problems. I have all newest drivers for RTX 3070. Downloaded new patch for windows as well.

hm. on directx 11 starting option of HOI 4. i have the same problem ... :/

CK3 is the game most like this one, so it is odd that one is fast and one is slow for you.

Can I ask what you mean by this? Perhaps you are referring to an integrated Intel video system?


Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.


If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Now I see what you meant:

Display Tab 1: Your PC is using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. For the best experience, get the latest drivers from Windows Update or from your hardware manufacturer's website. For more information search for 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'

You need to go to the ASUS support site and get a proper Intel video driver for that system. If they don't have one, then here:

Download Intel Drivers and Software

Download new and previously released drivers including support software, bios, utilities, firmware and patches for Intel products.
