Since the MacOS Catalina fucked up date I cannot play I:R (or EU4). No matter which screen resolution I choose (apart from the 640x480, where the whole screen turns black) there is always some part of the screen black. This is so annoying! What shall I do?

The exact same thing happens to me, also in Mac Catalina, but I can't play it. When I press start the game Crashes. Have you done anything to play man?

I’m sorry that it’s happening to you too. Prior to the Mac update everything worked fine, Catalina messed everything up. I’ve never experienced crashing though, for me it’s just the screen resolution issue.

Hmm, I was playing on Catalina CK2, EU4, Stellaris and I:R just fine (smaller than native screen resolution though) on MacBook Pro model from 2015.

I bought a new MacBook Pro 16-inch (running latest Catalina too) and now on it I can only play I:R - by setting resolution to native screen resolution (3072x1920) and changing Fullscreen to Borderless fullscreen mode.

EU4 and Stellaris behave differently now: they have black upper half of the screen and cut top game screen below on native resolution fullscreen. But changing them to Borderless fullscreen freezes resolution to 1792x1120 with a message "The borderless fullscreen display mode only supports the screen's current resolution". They look fine, but are a little blurry here and there.
!!! Unfortunately EU4's window is displayed below system taskbar and dock so it is not really playable... :(

CK2 on the other hand has no graphics settings in the launcher so I had to edit the settings.txt manually following EUIV settings for borderless fullscreen. Now it seems to work.

...can anyone help with this?

That's an unrelated issue, most likely you have an Intel or other unsupported video hardware. that's been reported as a bug today but not sure yet when a fix can be done for that.
