How do I make the mod selection droplist in the launcher work?

I'm sure the info must exist somewhere but I can't find it. I'd appreciate if someone could point me at it. Thanks.

You need to utilise the game's moddir function. The best way to see how this works is to download any normal mod. Pop it in the game's mod folder and see what's what. It's pretty simple once you see how things work. Open/edit files in notepad - nothing else.

Just a word of warning... if you mod the map you might break vanilla regardless of using the moddir. I've managed to break vanilla without editing any of the files outside of the moddir. Think this must be due to some of the cache files created when you run an altered map. Can't really elaborate on it since I've pretty much given up on finding the cause of the error. I simply have Rome installed twice. One for playing vanilla and one for modding.
