Hey so I have a question. So my ruler had a bastard child and since my ruler is 60 and probably gonna die soon enough I wanted to make the bastard a legitimate heir before my rulers pathetic excuse for a brother gets hold of the crown. So I tried doing charevent's that would make him a legitimate heir but it never worked...hes still a bastard, and I was on my rulers portrait to make the event happen. When I go to do the same event on the bastards portrait nothing happens : "Unkown type".

So was just wondering what I would have to do to get this son a legitimate heir...ohh and btw every time I do the required legitimizing events it says "Almerich has lost the trait Bastard" even though Almerich is the father.

Isn't there also an event that goes "your bastard son demands to be declared a legitimate heir" or something, that gives you, the father a choice, then if you choose to legitimise him, you lose some prestige maybe, but said bastard gets a legitimising event automatically as a followup?

I think you're trying the wrong events, or you can also of course load up as the bastard to do one of those ones.

Another option: grant the bastard enough titles that he'll be considered your strongest vassal, then institute Elective Law. The bastard will then (I think) be able to succeed the ruler. Once he's interhited, you can change the law back.

you can even do salic consangunity, strongest child inherits, regardless of bastardy.

But there should be events that evenutally could lead to the bastard trait being removed.
