Well, it's a bit disappointig the fact that you have a consul every two years, and you have him able to get mandate after mandate.
Any idea on how can we mod a more realistic system?

Well, of course the two consuls changing everyday is a bit tough to handle, but maybe something can be done

you can probably make an event that makes the person unelectable because of death, but this leads to the death of the person which may be unwanted, not sure how to make the triggers for the event though.

I guess a temporary lowering of popularity during election times for former consuls might do it? It makes things strange if you have civilwar breaking out right then but it should even out once election times are over.

Reading through the different parameters of the .txt files it looks like the 4 year term is not moddable.
So it looks like we have to use events like the the suggested ones.
Does anybody know if is it possible to imprison country characters?

Couldn't you just add a trait to the character on election, 'Once Consul', then 'Twice Consul' etc? Any term after the first would dramatically increase dissent among senators and run the risk of triggering assassination / civil war, but also increase the chances of the consul overthrowing the republic.

Thats a very clever idea actually, especially since the game seems to have events triggered by your consul being in charge of an army. There some definite possibilities....

I have no experience at all in modding Paradox games, exactly how moddable are the event files? are they difficult to get to grips with? I'd love to start looking into creating some. I'm wondering if a Roman style 'Dictator' style magistracy lasting six months if certain conditions are met would be possible, (number of core provinces taken by a single enemy or something. Dunno what it would actually do, of course, add a +1 bonus on each of the three stats or something?)

Just thinking out loud.

If it works is a great solution.
