Hello all.

Playing CORE .71 SP as USA.

I am getting very frustrated with my Manpower number - it keeps shrinking for no appatent reason

I built a few things early on, and the Manpower bank dropped right down below 10, way back in about 1937. Since then it goes up a couple of points after a couple of months and then randomly (it appears to me) drops down again!!! It is now March 1940, and I am very concerned that I will not have the Manpower to build the units I need in the run up to the war. My IC is great (staying over 1000 now), dissent is a bit high (8%) but I am leaving lots of CG being produced to try and knock that down slowly. Researching away merrily...But just as things are going along nicely I notice the Manpower figure has mysteriously dropped 1 again! It will not get up over 10 again.

HELP!!!

some events causes your manpower to drop (for example as Italy I have
lost 25 manpower to help Nat. Spain).
Are you reinforcing units? This also cost you manpower.

You don't need to worry about manpower for war though... when you'll join the war you'll get an event that will give you 600 manpower (IIRC) and will increase manpower values in all your provinces.

There's also something which caught me out: When you upgrade a province Industry it costs you a manpower point. You tend not to notice in vanilla HOI, but when you're a Western nation in CORE it can catch you out! Try playing as Turkey, for example...

Steve.

Your manpower will increase when you enter the war. I recomend not building much or anything (xept maybe some ships) before 1939/1940 when all your techs are upgraded. As mentoned you'll gett 600 when you enter the war and manpower will increase in all your main provinces. As the US you really don't need to upgrade any of your industry so forget about any upgrading, but focus on your pasific islands sore fortifications and AA. Also infantry demands alot of manpower where planes and ships do not. Focus on a good airforce and mech units is my tip.
