When I build armies in a province, I see numbers like 5000, 8000 or 20000. But when I look at province information I see something like 1 or 2. What is the relation between those numbers ? I want to know how big the army is, that a enemy-province can build ?

It seems that the number of troops you can build in a province is equal to the tax amount in ducats (multiplied by 1000).

For example, Kent is providing 9D of tax a year (and 9 more in the annual tax). 9000 infantry is the limit for Kent for a single build.

You can see the amount of tax an enemy province is producing by "viewing" the province and resting the mouse over the number to the left of the shield - it gives the breakdown on income for that province.

The tax amount is derived from "income" in provinces.csv x tax stability modifier. There is an unknown factor in the equation that has something to do with religion. Protestant and Reformed get a little more (maybe Sunni, too).

actually calvinists and shiite as well as crc get less building capacity...their tax % paid for their benfits..when you convert and rebuild your stability you will notice that you build rates are lower...for men as well as ships

also supply values are affected by taxes as well not just fort size...i have noticed that when i edited the baltic states to higher base eco values <i strongly believe the value of this region is set too low with the amber trade being what it was> that the support values went up as well as number of troops they could build

OK. But I suppose the numbers won't change very much. For me it was the problem how many troops a small country can build, when I seige on of their provinces. Just look at their taxamount * 1000.

Does somebody know what the manpower-number presents in the province-window ? Or should I read some FAQ ?

Maximum number of troops you can build at once, replenished at a fifty percent rate per year. So with a manpower of say fifty, maxed out at fifty, you can build fifty thousand men in January. That zeros it, but, say, two thousand men will get added to it in February. That's the maximum number of troops you can build in February. When fighting the AI wars often literally go down to who can raise the last man.

When at maximum, additional manpower is lost, replacements don't increase the size of the pool-although at maximum a rounding bug will often give you between 1-3000 men available above the supposed maximum.

And diveded by 2 if it's not a national province.

Aha. When my manpower at the top of the screen is zero, then the manpower in the province-window gives the number of army I can build each month in that province.
And you explain also why the maximumnumber is slightly different. Thanks.

You're welcome.

Manpower rises towards maximum by a fixed amount per month-so if it's rising by four thousand a month, the game takes no notice if you were only a thousand below your maximum level. The extra's not really enough to be of much use anyway. Slightly better explained.

When manpower at the top of the screen is zero, you can't build anything.
