Map question - rivers

Is it possible merge all rivers into one (or several) to avoid region limit? Of course i'm thinking about "working" river - all battle and movement effects should stay.
Are there any rules about create river province?

You can't do that. There's a limit to the number of neighbouring provinces 1 single province, sea zone or river can border. If you pass that limit (26 or so IIRC), the game will crash.

But if my river neighbour only 25 provinces... all should be in order?
And I can merge two or three rivers into one? This should reduce number of provinces in region...

If such a limit indeed exists it certainly is higher than 26. On my map at least 3 rivers border more provinces. Amazonas 36, Danube 35, Mississipi even 43... It seems unnecessary to add that my map does not crash (on that at least )
