Okay, I know that there is a lot to calculate in this game. But I find it odd that my 2 years old Alienware Laptop is lagging when playing this game on medium settings. Also it literally takes 5+ minutes to just end this game and wait for it to shut down and upload my save game into the Steam cloud. Does anybody experience the same?

With the upcoming update that will include all Asia I can only see this getting worth. I think it's high time to adress these performance issues.

If you aren't exaggerating your issues I'd say there is something wrong with your computer. Now given I play on a regular PC so there could in theory be a laptop issue but even though my rig is several years old I do not have any serious lag on the highest setting and when shutting the game down it takes perhaps 20 seconds.

Do you use any taxing mods ?

A gaming laptop will never be able to perform as well as a proper gaming desktop. But also consider letting your laptop breathe while playing CK3. By that I mean close down all applications you don't need through task manager. Also, remember that the game gets very dizzy if you have many saves. Go into your save folder and delete every save you don't use anymore.

Thanks. I play without mods. Will try to delete some save games, though this I do once in a while - usually when there is a new update that makes saves incompatible with the latest game version.

5 minutes to shut down does sound a bit off. Let's see if our local gurus can help...

Has this always been the case for you? Or it was okay up to some point?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Crusader Kings 3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III/ folders - In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

THEN Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

AND Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
