Maximum number of MP players

When I read about CK in the e-store it says that up to 8 players can play MP. Is that editable like in EU2 or a fixed number?

I ask this because people are getting to me about CK and I am feeling a growing urge of purchasing that game.

8 persons sounds a bit too little. I don't play MP, but already in EU2 there are a 16 or 24 players limit, isn't it? So why should the number be less now? Sounds a bit weired for me at least.

I'd imagine the limit is mostily on the bandwith of the players (in particular the host) like in e.g. EU2...

OK, so you can edit the scenario/save file and that way put in more players (like in EU2)?

Is CK more demanding in terms of bandwith?
