Well we do not officially support a game that uses a User made mod.
Obviously the save got corupted. Try the previous save either manually or Auto.

Asking how to fix it or avoid it, IS asking me to support it, that is what support is helping to get something to work. 
I tried to be helpful and offered my suggestion on how you could continue the game, you obviously did not want to follow that advice and instead felt the need to post what you did therefore this thread is closed. Contact the makers of the mod you installed for support on their mod.
