I'm going to be the contrarian here and personally think McCain would have been less inclined to invade Iraq, despite voting for it in the Senate. He certainly wouldn't have had Rumsfeld and Cheney in his administration who were both eager in pursuing war with Iraq. He may have had Colin Powell in his cabinet though or may even as VP - someone who was reluctant go to war with Iraq. McCain would have perhaps understood Powell's Pottery Barn Rule.

Now McCain would definitely intervene against Isis a lot sooner than Obama did, but this is the 2000 McCain and not the 2008 McCain so Isis and the Syrian Civil War, at least in OTL would be an issue for a McCain administration.

I must disagree. McCain and the hawkish wing of the GOP had it out for Saddam; he was gonna go down one way or the other.

And I wasn't referring to ISIS. McCain has been, at every step of the way, personally involved in helping to forment the rebellion which caused ISIS to thrive in Syria, supplying 'pro-western' elements and possibly ISIS itself.

We would have probably seen a heavier military presence in Iraq and a much earlier 'Arab spring'.

McCain would have flooded the anti-Assad rebels with even more weapons creating an even stronger ISIS.

Based on what? And I'm basing this entirely on my 4 years working in the U.S. Senate so I might not be as qualified as you guys in addressing this ;)

McCain is a pragmatist which is why he's so unpopular at the moment in Arizona. They'd prefer an idealogue. He would have carefully weighed whether Syria without Assad would be better or worse off.

Also, in the Republican party, being a Hawk is not the same as being pro-war; that would be the Neocons who the Hawks despised since most were Chickenhawks like Cheney and Rove.

But I do not wish to turn this into a political discussion and it's not my Mod; the OP is free to design it any way he likes.

Interesting concept, but wouldn't the HoG be the VP?

The President is actually the HOS AND HOG of the United States; something not especially well known.
Also anyone that is interested I'm trying to get a team for this mod and others anyone that is interested please PM me with what your able to help me with.

All I really need is someone good with making graphics MrNazar is a no go on answering at all and I know only a few of anyone else good with graphics.

I wonder how he would have reacted to lesser known, but important events like:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_protests_in_Hungary

Fortunately there was no deaths in here, but it was more like a miracle. Hundreds of wounded and a real clash in our capitol.
McCain was and is mostly an enemy of Orban, because he acts like a dictator. (Which is true in most parts.) The problem is, if the US would support Gyurcsány, their obedient and loyal ally, than they would anger the people. I think McCain would have sent some aid to the government, but this could have made things very fast similar to what in Ukraine was and is.
The opposition was not lead by Orban in the protests, and they haven't had any affiliation to him. They were led by Budaházy who is in prison even today, and Toroczkai who became a well known politician. Both of them are radical right-wing people and one of them was a royalist back than. They would've kicked the political bee hive in the nuts if they won.

Other events included the annual French riots, the early Ukrainian events, and the bombings in London.

Might be a good idea to rename your thread something like ... McCain mod, a modern day scenario... just so guys will know what it is immediately.

Best of luck with it. Cheers
