This is how the Empire is at 1546. All lands belonging to the empire in the beginning of the reign of Justinian have been returned, apart from one province in asia minor (controlled by Naples), three bulgarian provinces, and 4 Egyptian provinces.

The balance of power in Europe is EXTREME in this game, and in fact there has been no colonization of the new world yet...

I am allied with Great Britain and Russia. France is allied with Castille and Russia and Austria. Castille is allied to Portugal as well.

My next war will be against Naples so i can take that province in Cappadocia and also get a foothold in Italy.

Then i will declare on either Castille (easy option) or France (harder option).

There are a ton of key players in Europe. Myself, Kalmar Union, Britain, France, Russia, and then United Provinces (Holland), Austria and Castille. This is set to lead to a great war to end all wars...

Will be updating as i go :)

Looks like a very interesting game. While I'll be happy to see you go toe-to-toe with some of those European powers, that large Timurid Empire is just begging for some Roman civilisation to be brought its way!

Yes, another option is to go the Alexander way, to India :)

A few years later, not much changed, i just annexed the asia minor op, which rebelled as Athens :D

:)

The war against Castille-Portugal came, but it was very strange. It seems Britain had no fleet (!), and i gather it was destroyed in the war against Holland... Which means Holland is superstrong by now.

Anyway i managed to take four provinces from Castille, and get them also to release Granada. This happened because i signed peace with Portugal with recognition of defeat on my part, while they controlled half of Ireland. Britain finally started to build a fleet and i guess Castille saw that it could not win at that point. However i could not win either since my 35K army was facing total anihilation from Castille's north african 35K army with a better general.

But i will have to rethink my alliance with Britain.

Another MEIOU AAR? Count me in. If you don't mind me asking, at what point did you start? 1356 Grand Campaign or later (I think I see Royal Hungary there so I assume later)?

1356 :) The royal hungary came to existence following a war they lost with Bosnia, which used to be a regional power.

Currently i am not in very good shape, since 45 of my income come from the northern half of my empire. Syria, and evenmoreso Egypt, are dirt poor...

Allied with Russia. Trying to ally to Castille as well, so as to DoW on Britain. ;)

Valid expansion would be up through Croatia and Wallachia and touching the Caspian would make borders pretty if done in the right way. (Pretty borders are the most important thing in life! ;))

I had to reload an older save, from before the expansion to Syria and Egypt, since those lands are simply too far away from Constantinople to rule effectively.

Instead i focused on Italy.

My latest war resulted in almost all of southern Italy being in Roman rule. Aragon is no longer a regional power. France is weakened, and a future war is to bring it to its knees, since they are the sole power that can antagonize me and of course the civilized Byzantine law does not allow for antagonists ;)

Expansion in Italy, Bosnia, Asia minor and Bulgaria are the next concerns. I fought five wars while westernizing, and gained 11 provinces, abusing the fact that my ally Britain was defender of the catholic faith (i saw to it that we were alongside in a war, then declared on some catholic nations) :)
