Stellaris Version 2.6 with all available DLC as of June 28th, 2021.
I had a mercenary fleet on contract from one of the raiders. I had the fleet for a month maybe longer before said raider faction had a Great Khan emerge.
The fleet I had rented returned to their faction, but instead of joining the Great Khan they had instead returned to their home system.
They became a neutral fleet that does not move. This seems unintended.
