Sorry if this has already been discussed - I am relatively new. Will there be any random or set events that reflect the superstition of the age? For example, bad or good omens or possession of a site where a miracle is reputed to have occurred effecting status. Or I suppose if this was pursued even further if a person did have possession of such a site reputation or standing could be effected either negatively or positively depending upon how much access you give to pilgrims.

Places of miracles often turned into pilgrimage targets, like Santiago de Compostela in Spain and Monte Gargano in Italy. We have had some discussion before about superstition, but I don't think there has been any final words from the designers regarding features here.

Personally I'd like an implementation where you from time to time could have some random (more or less) occurance of a "miracle" or other "divine" actions in your realm happend, and the possibility to build on that. It depends a little on how the interaction with the Church is modelled (could you e.g. influence the Pope to canonize saints from "your" realm to support a new pilgrimage target => More piety and prestige?)

Good idea.:)

Maybe after your 500 troops defeat a 5000 man army you could build a shrine to whatever saint you thought helped win the battle. This could become a place for a pilgrimage.:)

One problem is that most historic pilgrimages were well established before 1066 though... - not much support (historically) of many new of these...

I think miracles, if properly implemented, have tremendous potential at adding flavor to CK. Also note that there were many heteredox Muslim miracles recorded within the timeframe of the game (Sunni Islam frowns upon such events usually)

For example, Bektas Veli (St. Bektas) acquired his title "Haci" or the Pilgrim, through a miracle where he visited the Holy Lands without leaving his house at Sulucakarahoyuk in Anatolia.

Make only one such mayor new pilgrim target event whit random chance to get in any province, depending how religus or like that you are in game.

He stayed home because he was afraid that if he went to Mecca they would ask him to write down the name of his town - and he didn't want to get writers cramp.:D

Ah that's right, those pesky Arabs don't speak a word of Turkish ;)

And in case you're wondering what that nightmarish name of the village means:

Suluca (well watered, wet) + kara (black) + hoyuk (settlement)

Thanks for the translation.

I understand the watered and settlement part - any reason for the black part of the name?:)

"Kara" is one word old Turks were apparently very fond of :) Possibly built on a black rock basin or near a black rock or something of that sort. Afyonkarahisar (Afyon-Black Castle) is a city whose fortifications were made out of black stones for example.

O.K. - thought it was something like that. No major significance just named after part of the landscape.:)
