Hi everybody.
I bought CK2, and when I started it, my computer said that it didn't work. I saw the fodler, and I didn't see ck2.exe file, just ck2game.exe. As I know, there should be both of them, shouldn't? What can I do? Have you any idea? Have I thrown my money? Please, help me!
Thanks!

vertify game cache in steam if you do not have them.

ck2.exe was removed several versions ago, when we got rid of the separate launcher.

1. what are you tryign to run it on? are you sure it meets specifications?

2. what OS are you using?

3. have you tired to verify the game cache on steam?

if all else fails, you can try:

install new drivers for your GPU
update directx and similar programs
reinstall the game in it's entirety

I use Win7. EU4 runs perfectly. I ahve up-to-date upgrades and erverything meets the requirements.
'CK2's working has stopped.' APPCRASH is the name of the problem.
Now I'm trying to reinstall it.

Have you tried deleting the user directory in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II ?

Sometimes when I've uninstalled a game in Steam, it still thinks I have it installed. You might have to Delete Local Content again. Also, make sure to delete the files in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II

I would actually probably not delete the Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusaders Kings II\ content since that's your save games.

It sounds like the game has never run on this machine.

Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\DX\ and run dxsetup.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\ and run vcredist.exe
If that doesn't help, please try installing ALL of these Microsoft modules:

First: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328

Then: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

(If that doesn't do anything then http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 )

Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all .NET updates/patches it wants to, for all .NET versions.

Does the error message immediately appear when you launch the game? Or does a black screen appear for a while first? If you're seeing a black screen, does the error message happen spontaneously or does it happen when you click the mouse or hit a keyboard button?

It happens when I click on "PLAY" in Steam.

I run dxsetup.exe, but it doesn't work. And Visual C is the newest.

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please pos your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log

when exactly does it stop working? once you click on play? does steam even try to boot it? could be something worng with steam instead of ckii. try boot it directly from /steam/steamapps/common/crusader kings 2 and see if it crashes in that case as well.

I'll attach the file, but now I have noticed, that just logs folder can be found in Documents/Paradox/CK2. Everything else lacks. In EU4 folder everything's OK. I don't understand... xD
