UPDATE:
So another question on this. Are weak claims not able to be pressed against those who are vassals of another kingdom? because france has come in and vassalized barcelona. I thought ok ill just kill the king and his heir will be uncrowned, allowing me to press the weak claim on barcelona that his vassal currently owns. But I dont see the claim available to me when I try to declare war on the king. I know I cant wage war directly on the duke of barcelona but does that also apply indirectly? Hes 100% invulnerable from a military invasion so long as he hiding behind france?

So i fabricated claim on barcelona thinking if i sent councilor to capital i would get a duchy claim. i didnt start a war for it when i got a claimant with the claim to the entire duchy later on. Now whenever i try to claim the duchy I only see the claim for the county. Am I missing something obvious to make it show? Or do i need to start a war for the county, wait 10 years then duchy?

I just pushed a duchy claim. Its just the barcelona one only shows the barcelona county claim i fabricated. Not the one with the courtier that is a duchy claim.

IIRC you need to have a sufficient CA(medium?) to be able to push duchy claims. I'm only about 50% certain about that...

That's for de jure kingdom and empire claims. You can always push personal claims.

Yeah Im already at medium CA. The dang duchy claim for barcelony just seems to be blocked by the county barcelona claim...

You'd have to explain what you mean a bit better. What are you trying to do, exactly? And what type of "claim" are you talking about? From the original post it sounds like you have a claim to the county of barcelona...so where do you get a claim to the duchy from?

Ah I missed the fact that it was a weak claim. The dude has the same name as another claimant and i confused their claims with each others. Thats what happens when youre on a 10 hr CK2 session. I need to get some sleep. GG guys.

Like any other CB in the game, you must declare war on the top_liege, not the vassal. That's a hard code limitation

Right thats what im saying. Im declaring war on the french king, who is the liege of the duke of barcelona. The king is uncrowned which should allow me to press the weak claim for the duchy of barcelona. I dont see claim barcelona among the options when I choose to declare war however. Can I not claim titles the vassal has by declaring war on his liege?

The one who is holding the title needs to be "uncrowned" so to say, or rather an eligible target for a weak claim. In this case the liege makes no difference on the matter.

So in your example, if you have a weak claim claimant but the Duke of Barcelona is an adult male with no regent, he'd not be eligible even if he were indie.

Or in other words, you declare war on the liege for the weak claim, but the title holder must still be an eligible target.

Ah I see...so not only must I be able to declare war on the liege but I must also make the title holder an eligible target. In that case I think ill kidnap the duke of barcelona, kill his adult succesor before he becomes ruler and harder to assassinate, and then get rid of the duke so his child grandson becomes eligible to be declared upon. By that point hopefully the truce will be up with france and we can have a bloody good time.

Thanks for clearing that up zeress
