I am looking to include Elite Builds into my dZ Consolidated Company Commander Mod Pack. I need build suggestions and MechDef files including those builds. The intention of these builds is to provide mechs similar to what a player could make to include really scary mechs in the game. Players typically have significantly more armor and much better damage efficiency than stock builds, so I want to include some truly sturdy mechs into the game. This thread is intended to hold the discussions concerning this Mod. Once compiled, this Mod will be released as a standalone Mod as well as being incorporated into Hard Mode of my Mod Pack. The rules for these builds:

  1. Must be based upon mechs available in the Vanilla game or in JK_Campaign variants.
  2. No LosTech.
  3. Must be legal builds according to TT rules. This includes armor allocation rules. For test builds, this can be enforced by using the Pansar mod.
  4. Only one build per chassis to prevent too much "mech bloat" in game.
  5. Follow this naming convention for the mechdefs: mechdef_blackjack_BJ-1X_Elite

@don Zappo: As requested, some medium mech builds. Nothing starts off a good medium build list like a King Crab ;)

King Crab: Long Range Direct Fire Support - Just beastly. It will turn an Atlas into an Urbanmech when it gets in range lol.

Enforcer: Long Range Direct Fire Support. Think of this is a mini King Crab from above.

Wolverine: All arounder, similar to stock, but great for brawling.

Shadowhawk: Glass Cannon Pocket Jager w/ JJ's!

Shadowhawk: SRM Bomber - Short range madness

Griffin: Brawler version

Vindicator: Energy Boat

Hunchback: Brawler / Melee - dropped AC20, and heat sinks for some CQC goodness.

Here's a few of my optimized builds. Just replace any ++ / +++ / lostech stuff with regular. I would include any special equipment though, maybe a nice touch, but replace double heatsinks with regular. If you do replace some special equipment, it will free up additional tonnage for weapons / heat sinks / armor. Note: I can very well move ammo to legs on some of these builds, but I chose not to, for "realism" sake. I feel it can be cheaty / gamy. Just a self imposed rule. Also, all of these builds are using Pansar mod (TT rule for armor), so armor should match what player will see in "hard mod".

Cataphract: Optimized for long range fire support. Extremely heat efficient.

Thunderbolt JJ variant: Heavy scout / melee. Replace ER MLas with regular, may opt to replace 1-2 heat sinks and SLas w/ MG + ammo. My front / back armor ratios works well, but maybe increase rear armor for AI.

Highlander: Brawler / DFA King - replace MPLas with MLas and upgrade 2 SRM4 to 2 SRM6 or keep them and add more heatsinks. Probably increase rear armor for AI.

Firestarter: Master Scout / Brawler / Backstabber / Light Hunter - One of my favorite CQC scouts, extremely viable even on 5 skull missions

Grasshopper: Heavy Scout / Melee Brawler. Insane short range alpha, extremely heat efficient even using JJ's a lot. Will cool off when melee combo with all SLas.

Banshee 3S: Long Range Support / General Purpose Energy Boat - replace lostech weapons with standard, replace DBL heatsinks with standard. Replace heat exchanger with more heat sinks if necessary. Very heat efficient, especially at long range (not using MLas).

I would throw my King Crab build up here too, but it is way too dependent on having double heat sinks to be viable.

@Ganimal has kicked things off with these suggestions. They are quite good and only need conversion to mechdefs.

Idea: does game allow display of same variant name? For example, say you have 3 elite King Crabs, in battle mouse over, you see “KGC-Unknown” instead of “KGC-0000”. But make unknown for all 3, would appear more sensical. Afterall these are rare custom variants “no one else” has.

Would be great for VIP mechs in assassinations or elite lance battle missions.

An Orion build like this one could be pretty menacing... (and some weapons and components could be swapped for even better versions)

I'll see if I get time to do a proper Mechdef file anytime soon. ;)
