Equivalent Effective System Density
This is my take on a larger Galaxy (up to 4000 Stars)
In larger Galaxy mods I've seen so far, the Galaxy isn't actually larger (due to a hard map size limit of 500) but simply denser, which I suspect throws off the gamebalance quite a bit (especially in terms of the different FTL methods, the Hyperdrive probaly gets shafted massively).
So what I did to fix this (or attempted to) is to simply make everything else smaller.
As such I reduced sensor range, wormhole range, warp drive range, jumpdrive range, border range, nebula sizes, and some distance related ai behaviour by half, as well as the standard galaxy map sizes (not exactly half, since they had inconsistent densities (varying by up to 25%), so I changed them around a bit to make them equivalent densities)
Current Features:
- FTL range (except hyperdrive) halved
- Hyperdrive and Warpdrive transit speed halved (since they only have to go half the distance)
- Sensor range halved
- border range halved
- inter system distances in solar_system_initializers halved
- nebula sizes halved
- some distances related to AI behaviour halved
- map sizes approximately halved
- added map sizes with 75, 1500, 2000, 3000, and 4000 stars
- equalized star system density across all map sizes (assuming elliptical galaxies, other setups may cause variation)
To Do:
- Add more star names (currently none added)
- Halve distances in events and other files

For a longer list of star names I'm currently using Langor's Galaxies Unlimited (I hope he doesn't mind me linking his mod here). I set up my mod so that it overwrites his setup scenarios and only uses his star names, if you're using both mods.
The mod has so far been tested only for basic functionality, so it's very much possible that the AI freaks out with the changes I've made. I'm about to start a campaign using it, so we shall see.

Known Issues:
- Frontier outposts still have the same border range, and it seems like it's impossible to reduce it (no defines entry and 'country_border_mult' does not affect them). This is screwing balance quite a bit.
