As a Fan of Mass Effect, took the liberty of including and depicting all or most of the Races / Species of the Mass Effect Universe.
The final end release (which will take time) will be to include Animated Portraits, Proper System Starting Locations and include the Prescripted Countries


Note: This is the first time for me in actually making 2D portraits etc. So it wont be the best, but for now it will do, I am looking into learning how to manipulate the Animations and have like the normal Vanilla game. But will only do that once I complete my Union Plus Mod.

This Mod will also be part of my Union Mod, which will include More Government Types and other additions to really give us a Mass Effect experience:D (As you can recreate Omega Station now and a Hack way of recreating the Citadel and Arcturus)

Was asked a question, which Phenotype do you guys think the Prothean, Yahg and Vorcha should be?

Also if we can create a new class if nothing really fits,

Based on the information I have

The vorcha are known for a rather unique biology that differentiates them from other known species and which carries with it a striking set of advantages and disadvantages. They have clusters of non-differentiated cells, similar to those found on the planarian worm, - The worm part of this the closest thing is a Molluscoid

Protheans are an anthropoidal race - Which is different from Athropoids (i.e. Spiders and Crabs etc). They have skin and closer to Humanoid type of Phenotype

The yahg are a sentient race of towering humanoids native to the world of Parnack - They have scaly, partially armored skin ranging from red to brown, a triangular mouth adorned with sharp teeth, two large horns and facial markings on their heads. Their hands each have three fingers which include a thumb, as well as three toes on each foot. - I would Assume Fungoid woudlnt have Fingers lol I also could be wrong though, there not much info on them

Now a suggestion was
Yahg would be fungoid and Proteans Athropoids

Also I may create new Phenotypes but would like to know what you people think it should be?
 
My suggestions:

Vorcha = Molluscoid (the Mass Effect lore mentions that: "They have clusters of non-differentiated cells, similar to those found on the planarian worm of Earth".
Seeing as the worms are in real life annelids, which is not a category in the game, I would put them to the one closest to worms = Molluscoid (the closest thing to worms I guess). The appearance of a Vorcha looks like Mammalian-Reptile cross, but biological are closer to worms.

Prothean = Athropod (it is even referenced in Mass Effect lore "Protheans are an anthropoidal race."

Yahg = Molluscoid, I am going on this based on the portrait that already exists in Stellaris that looks almost identical to how the Yahg look like, and it is based in Molluscoid. We know nothing about the Yahg really, so anything could work. I would choose Molluscoid.

Salarian = Reptilian, technically they are Amphibian in the Mass Effect lore, but Reptilian is the closest.

Drell = Reptilian, as mentioned in the lore.

Batarian = Mammalian, because the lore mentions the Batarian closely resembling Humans and asari as an anthropoidal race (not Athropod, it is something else).

Asari = Mammalian, same reason as above, closely resembling Batarian and Humans.

Elcor = Mammalian, seems logical to me here. Looks like an elephant, which are mammals. Nothing else is known from the lore.

Krogan = Reptilian.

Turians = Avian, the lore mentions: "Turian features are avian, making them resemble humanoid birds or raptors".

Volus = Not sure, it says in the lore: "As the volus are never seen outside of their protective suits, little else is known about their appearance and physiology. It has been noted; however, that volus have cloacae, a trait they share with the salarians. Some volus individuals have also shown themselves capable of using biotics." Based on this, I am inclined to say Amphibian, in vanilla that would mean Reptilian.

Quarian = Mammalian (mentioned to be humanoid in the lore).

Rachni = Athropod.

Hanar = Molluscoid (gut feeling, also because Molluscoid portrait 7 looks like a Hanar).

Now, I know this was not mentioned, but there is another race very much active during Shepard's era, the Raloi. "The raloi are an avian species originating on the planet Turvess, who made first contact with the asari in 2184 after launching their first space telescope and discovering the asari cruiser Azedes in their system."

Raloi = Avian, we have never seen them in the storyline, so any of the Avian portraits would be fine.

I created 2 new species classes - (Amphibians and Anthropoid)

Vorcha - Agreed it is a Molluscoid

Prothean - There a major difference betwen a Anthropoid and a ARthropod, ARthropod which is in the game are simply invertebrates and include Spiders, Crustaceans and Insects, where as according to the Dictionary ANthropoid are "Simian, monkeys and apes (anthropoids, or suborder Anthropoid or some say Human Like). To be able to be close to the Lore I created the Anthropoid species class and it is now included in that with Humans (I seperated it from Mammalian)

Yahg = Molluscoid, this could be true the only thing on Mass Effect is that they are Towering Humanoids, I included this aspart of the Anthropoid class but I can move it to Molluscoid based on picture alone

Salarian = Agreed I moved them to Amphibians

Drell = Agreed

Batarian = Agreed it even says they have hair, I included them as the Anthropoid ie the same as Humans

Asari = Agreed, it is same as Batarian

Elcor = Agreed they are Mammalian

Krogan = Agreed

Turians = Agreed

Volus = I did not think about that, they could be Amphibian, I put them as Mammalian because they remind me of Moles lol, but yeah Amphibian based on what you say may be an option, I found this as well now : "In animal anatomy, a cloaca is the posterior orifice that serves as the only opening for the digestive, reproductive, and urinary tracts (if present) of certain animals, opening at the vent. All amphibians, birds, reptiles, and a few mammals (monotremes, tenrecs, golden moles, and marsupial moles) have this orifice, from which they excrete both urine and feces; this is in contrast to mostplacental mammals, which have two or three separate orifices for evacuation. Excretory systems with analogous purpose in certain invertebrates are also sometimes referred to as cloacae." - They mention Mammals and includes Moles the jury out that though

Quarian = Agreed, same as Asari and Batarian

Rachni = Agreed

Hanar = Agreed

The Raloi = Avian agreed, I did not include them because I do not know what they look like lol but yes will do

No problem :). Yeah you are correct, that part was a brain derp on my part, I did mean Anthropoid, you are correct.
 
Just an update on Progress so far :

  • Created the System Initializers for the Batarian
  • Created the System Initializers for the Hanar
  • Created the System Initializers for the Drell
  • Created the System Initializers for the Systems Alliance (used as base)
  • Converted some Artwork from Deviant Art to be used as Reaper Portraits will use aswell Indoctrinated species as other leaders
  • Converted some Artwork from Deviant Art to be used as Raloi Portraits (Concept)
  • Converted some Artwork from Deviant Art to be used as Rachni Portraits
  • Redone all Portrait Artwork for Turians to resolve issues
  • Introduced new species classes to correlate with the Lore
  • Introduced new Planet Classes to correlate with the Lore
  • Total of 376 Planets prescripted :) Ontop of this are moons and colonizable new type of class of asteroid to simulate certain Stations like Omega, Citadel etc.
Please also take a look at the attached Image, this is the Logic behind the Mapping and how it connects, it is not a 100% representation of the Mass Effect Galaxy, but in order to ensure that the various races colonize and control what they should control without having it prescripted I had to deviate a little, aswell as including some fake buffer zones and a few nexus Points, as well as few fake systems as some of the planets there is no reference to which system they from.

Hey guys below is the new Portraits I want to include :D I am including Saren as one of the leaders of the Reapers (since he was indoctrinated) I included 2 Reaper Portraits one is a Hologram type of image the other is actual one, but in the screen or diplomacy screen you will only see a portion of it since they huge the same for the Leviathan, unless someone has another idea on how we can show them on the leader screen I am all ears!!

Oh and btw the Reapers and the Collectors will be the same,

I have a minor suggestion, I noticed from the "Krogan Namelist", that according to the lore, the Krogan names are the wrong way around in the mod. The Krogan have the surname/family name first, and then the given name. For example Urdnot Wrex, clan name Urdnot is first. But the way the Krogan namelist is now, has: "Wrex Urdnot" etc.

Do you think this could be an easy fix?
 
Collectors should be their own thing. They operate more like a hive mind rather than how each reaper who seems to operate with an independent/own agenda streak.

That first picture also looks like an Awakened Collector which in canon have been freed from the reapers and are fighting back. Doesn't make much sense for them to be listed under reapers.

I would also throw in the Thorian for some giggles. Obviously I would pick slow growing and requires slaves for traits but if there was one Thorian I imagine they could multiply.
