I'm seriously depressed, the Paradox and more specifically the Darkest Hour community has been(in the most part) open, friendly and welcoming but lately the tone has taken a distinct downturn in a number of threads and now this.

The idea that mod creators should abandon their native language (if not their only language) simply for the convenience of few others is frankly disrespectful and arrogant on the part of those making the 'suggestions' here.

perhaps instead of asking someone else to take on extra work you do the translation work yourself .... oh what you do not speak French AND English ... well maybe the mod creators don't either

I understand your feeling, but saying someone should learn French, or anything else is not the solution. I'm Hungarian and I speak English and German, while also partially Italian. I don't speak French, I use google translate. I also play with Russian games, with the same method. There is a great AoD mod in Hungarian, which probably not a single person knows here, but I don't want people to go and learn Hungarian. English is the common language. I don't like it either and I would be happier if it was Hungarian, but English is the winner. Mod33 is a great mod, but in French it is only half the fun. If it is possible to add things in English, it would be great. I wouldn't want to learn French, just so I could add five-six events for this mod. I mean even basic French would take half a year at least for a ten minutes modding.
I really hope you understand what I mean. I didn't ask for any translation, I only asked if in a full French game English language events could be added.

No you asked that they translate a mod there working on into a language they may not even speak.

Or lets put this another way pick your favorite mod, any mod and translate it into lets say Dutch and work on that mod at the same time, impossible? that's the point .... your asking the mod creators to stop development of their mod to accommodate you.

No one mention persecution, the hyperbole is purely yours not mine.

My point still stands however, people think it's reasonable to expect the mod creators to learn a new language to translate the mod, but when i suggest you learn a new language to play the mod instead is jumped on as trolling.

EDIT: Either way i think i've made my point and i don't want to descend this thread further into off-topic-ness so i'll leave it now, will be happy to continue this via PM if needed.

Great job, thanks ! I remember there was an effort to translate the original mod, but it wasn't finished. But the french used in the mod do not really need translation. Even with the most basic knowledge of other Latin languages like English or Spanish, you can understand everything. I never had a problem, don't worry about it.

Along with other posters here I was part of a team that worked on an unofficial translation for the earlier version, and I can vouch for the fact that it's a do-able project - immense but do-able. I'd certainly be happy to see you pick up the baton, Xie.
