Hello all

Like many of you I am dissatisfied with EU3.

So I am seeking some help with modding my game. Please hellp!

I play single player and although I know that there is simply no way the AI will never be as good as a human opponent I am seeking some advice on how to mod my game for maximum challenge.

At present, I am using Peter Ebbesens Age of Explorations with my own AI files, modified to make every coastal nation who can afford it colonize like mad.

I tried looking around the board for a good AI modification but could not find any. If you know a good one, please provice a link.

Also, is there any way to play Peters Age of Explorations with the AGCEEP events without crashing the game?

Thank you

Erhm... I must be reading something wrong. I just started a game of Peters Age of the Reformation and Russia has Ruthetian culture. It's not that I'm against it, it just says to Russia does not have Ruthetian culture.

very interesting

however, when i try to download eigther file the download cuts off way to soon (at about 1,5 mb)

and so i end up with a corrupted exe/archive
Unfortunately this has been a common complaint. I think I'm going to have to try using another webspace. However, I've been told by other EP users that they can still get it to DL all the way, if they keep attempting it.

no, it does not work.

i've tried well over 10 times now :(

Eventually, it will work. And, IMO, it is worth trying 100 times, if that's what it takes.

There are some standard ways of making yourself weaker within the game mechanics:

- Reduce your tech group to Exotic
- Give yourself a dollop of inflation/badboy
- Switch your religion to Pagan
- Take away all your cores
- Change your primary culture to Albanian and get rid of all other cultures
...

You get the idea. All of this can be done either by modding (making special player-only events etc) or by editing your save game.

The alternative approach is 'house rules':

- no DOWs
- no diploannexation
- must autosend merchants
- don't get trade tech X until year Y
- never build manus
...

Of course, these are extreme examples, but I'm sure you can think of some more sensible handicaps to make the game challenging again.

ways to change the combat tables to give the AI more chance to play better (and Beat YOU)

1- change combat tables to make armies retreat earlier after losing 10% of men, this will cause the shock value to be of less relevance, ensures that AI armies are more intact and can fight another day, you need to maintain larger armies at the ready which ends up costing the human , money and if you loose, the warscore will mount against you much faster, hence making the AI force you to take unwanted peace's or loose stability. or get jumped on by other nations :D
See soapy's combat table for further info on what form of combat you are after,
you can even go out for a blood bath, 90% loss before retreats

2- fighting in mountains, across rivers etc etc, will favour the defender

negatives with this setup, ---
1....you need to play the slowest for battles or else you will miss them.
2.... cavalry shok values are reduced

thirdly, you might find a better setup with the right combat tables, than I ever did.

an interesting way I sometimes play is:

play only as a general of a nation and not the monarch..........switch "NEY" on
