Are you asking how much you can mod or how easy it will be, or both? Your best bet is to check the posts TotalyMoo responds to, which are easy to see, or the development diaries because the developers often respond there. Having said that, I have read that they are aiming to make it more moddable than CIM2 by creating easier modding tools for things like map editing. They have also stated on many occasions that this is alpha so nothing is set in stone at this point.

The limits are, kind of, where we put them. Unity doesn't really have built in support for modding so we need to build our own tools. Rest assured we will work together with our modding community to create, maintain and continue developing these tools!

I know you want to keep this "under your hat" still. However I guess you are aware how hyped-up the community is for this. Can't you at least drop a subtle hit as to when the first sreenshots of the modding tools will come?...;) Weeks, months, before Christmas? Go on you know you can..lol

Ps I won't be offended if you say no! And we won't hold you to anything.

When they are ready to be shown, we're still working things out :) And yes, we're aware of the hype, which is why we do not want to release information before it's pretty much set in stone. City builder fans have been let down before and we would rather not add to that part of history.

Ok fair enough. I like the not letting us down part ;)

It's very easy for people to build a lot of hype and own expectations for game like this, because you have your set expectations. I will not deny that some people will be let down no matter what we do, because the genre is simply too broad and the potential feature list is longer than my... very long ruler that I happen to have here.

Nevertheless I am sure we're going to deliver a very solid core experience with a lot of modding potential and more than enough to keep people interested and entertained as we and the modders continue to add content :)

Just look at what happened with SC4.

The game was not "mod-open" but things could be done. Some tools were released to make building "not too hard". Modders managed to get more and more in-depth.

The result : The game is still played ten years after release and people are still working to add things to it.

I can't imagine what will happen if your game is mod-friendly and you give us the right tools.

Based just off of what you've shown so far I'll be playing this game for the next 10 years (or until you make a sequel)!

:D

:D :D :D

Stuff like this makes us happy. We hope to deliver ^_^
