Hi there
I love the game but last time I got so frustrated I rage quit and uninstalled the game! This was because I had a far superior army as Rome but was constantly suffering defeats against Egypt due to the unfair advantage they receive by being able to appoint very high generals while me as Rome have it much harder being unable to.

So what I want to mod is either to make battle calculations have the quality of the troops as the most important factor in a battle or make Monarchies also have strict requirements for their generals.

Cheers
Dom

Fair warning: the cursus honorum mod actually makes it harder for republics to get half decent generals. The only way to make it easier for yourself is to mod common\titles.txt, find the entry for title_general and remove the following lines:

Code:
		OR = {
			country = { government = monarchy }
			country = { government = tribal }
			is_ruler = yes
			has_title = title_ex_general
			has_title = title_ex_ruler
			has_title = title_pro_ruler
			has_title = title_ex_civic_tech
			has_title = title_pro_civic_tech
			has_title = title_ex_censor
		}
That should work :)

And, for what it's worth: historically, even though the Romans claim they had superior troops, more often than not their battles were won or lost on the basis of the quality of their generals. They were plagued by poor generals most of the time, but when a good general came along they proved to be worth more than their weight in gold. This is half the challenge of playing a Republic, IMHO.
