I am workin on a mod for quite a long time now, and I gained some experiences which lead me to some suggestions what can be improved in a lalter version / Hearts of Iron 3.
1.) MODDIR-function
The moddir-function was a great Idea. Anyway, it is quite senseless, that some new file must exist as a dummy in the vanilla-file structure. This must be fixed in the future.
2.) Country-Tags
Maybe Paradox can manage it to let the user specify own Country-Tags. Therefore, it could be possible just to add some country-tags to the worldnames.csv file, which can be used within the game.
3.) Little Arithmetic functions for event triggers
It would be great if the game would support an easy arithmetic for event triggers. This could be used to check if the number of vicory-points, divisions of a special kind or similar stuff of one country exceed the number of a second one, without dealing with concrete numbers. Therefore, we need some relations (<,>,=,<=,>=) as well as basic mathmatic operators (+,-,*,/)
4.) Time Counters for event triggers
In some cases, it would be great if we could let one event happen X days after another, without dealing with concrete dates. Therefore it would be great to have some counters which can be used for event-triggering.
I'll may extend this list later, but this is what I already thought about.
Maybe a Paradox-member will read this.
