Hello everyone,

I've been wanting to play a sort of Avignon Papacy run on CK2 for a while now. Taking the Orsini family of Orvieto and placing them in Venaissin and neighboring Vivaries(?) and make the counties their own dejure duchy.

At present I've located mods which have enabled the creation of a titular duchy (using the same desired CoA as Venaissin) and from that have made a dejure (sort of) kingdom*. However, I was told sadly my titular duchy will never "drift" and assimilate into the Papacy proper, and will remain dejure vassals of the dukes of Provence and Dauphine respectively.

I wondered whether anyone here could offer a step by step instruction enabling the creation of a truly dejure Duchy of Venaissin: comprising the two desired counties as an event - similar to how Gotland can become Visby or the Etichonen dynasty can become Habsburg with the click of a mouse the decisions menu.

Failing this I would be willing upon receiving the necessary instructions detailing how I could go about manually altering the game files so I can play as the Duchy of Venaissin from the 1066 start. I've been wary about modding before due to it altering checksum, yet the changes which have occurred since I last modded seem more user friendly than I remember it was before.

As a final aside, I'm keen to make graphic changes as well (even if they retain the same name, slight alterations between county, duke and king). It strikes me as lame that Venaissin retains the same CoA as a kingdom as it does when a mere duchy. This is purely aesthetic, and secondary to making Comtat Venassin a dejure duchy vassal of the Papacy via the Orsinis.

*When I made the kingdom, bizarrely only Vivaries became dejure Venaissin - with the eponymous province remained dejure part of Provence. Rather annoying given the HRE's tendency to usurp my bishopric!

Thanks!

Edit: it would make more sense if the mod applied only in the start date was 1337 start, considering the Avignon Papacy reached its zenith during this period. However my general inclination is really towards making a creatable duchy for the region in question and not a desire to mod files enabling the incorporation of new mechanics concerning the Avignon Papacy - which jonjowett is partially covered by the antipope feature anyway. Although I noticed myself someone raised this on Reddit in 2019 and welcome such interest for future modders.
