I have an existing campaign that I'd like to "mod-up" and expand. Assuming the following are the three top exapansion mods:
  • BattleTech Extended 3025[BEX]
  • BattleTech Advanced 3062[BTA]
  • RogueTech[RT]
Which of these can be successfully applied to an existing campaign?

Bonus Question: Is there a way to "duplicate" a campaign, so that I can keep a copy of original un-modded? Or, just do a local backup of saved games pre-mod?
[Mod edit: no unapproved links. Nexus. ]

I believe your best bet at getting it to work with a preexisting campaign would be BEX since it's the most vanilla compatible. In regards to BTA and definitely RT I'm pretty sure that is a terrible idea, and should not be done with them.

As for duplicating the campaign, just making a backup would be simplest.

@Jack Frost when going to one of the large overhaul mods like those listed it is in your best interest to start fresh.
this is due to some of the major changes to the game that these mods make.

now with smaller mods most can be applied in the middle of a game without issue.

also always check the mods description page as it will usually tell you if a new campaign/career is recommended to avoid issues

as to your bonus question...

sure..but it requires a second install of battletech and you copy save file over.

or you could just do a manual save in the install you have an rename it so you can com back later if you like.

The simple way to duplicate saves (assuming you don't have Ironman on) is to save a game you just loaded using a new name... but I'd want to change the callsign to keep it organized separately. To do that, you might be able to copy the file and use the save editor (no Nexus links allowed, but it's the top Google hit for "BattleTech save editor"). Though I haven't used the editor myself, so I can't guarantee that's an option.
