Okay, I'm being slow today.

Can someone please clarify the situation with saved games and Mods?

If I apply a functionality mod, such as advanced camera settings, does this mean all future saved games after the mod is applied will only work on versions with that mod applied?

Supposed, for example, I apply the mod on Computer A and save a game, but try to load that save on Computer B without the mod. What happens?

The statement about saves and mods is more of a blanket statement to tell us "use mods at your own risk - you may lose your saves"

In general, a mod like you are describing does not impact the save, but changes a function. If an update occurred you might lose that function, but it shouldn't invalidate the save.

For another example, if I use a mod that adjusts the X/Y coordinates of star systems on the map to be where they are in the Lore, and the game is updated, it will probably revert to the original X/Y values. Once again, this doesn't impact your game save.

Now, lets say you are using a mod that adds the entire Inner Sphere and your last game save was on a planet out in the middle of Steiner space. When the game updates, it isn't going to have a frame of reference for the planet you are 'on', your save won't load. In fact, the save may well remember all the other star systems out there, and not load until they are all placed back in the game.

Similarly, if you are using a mod that adds new 'Mech variants or weapons and you have them in your lance, after an update, you would have to reapply that mod, so the game save can make sense of the Uber Locust you have modded into the game.

Does that help - or did I muddy the waters further?

That helps and that's what I thought.

I think I'll go with the Lyft Locust, however.
