Could have titled it better but w/e. Mods are a problem for me, for some reason, I check that box at the startup and the mods don't load, what am I doing wrong?

I did that, I unpackage my mods straight into the folder, but they don't run. I can check the box, but it wont run the mod.
most of the mods come packaged in a zip folder that contains a .mod file and a folder. Those are what need to be in the mod folder--sometimes when you extract the files they end up buried behind an extra directory level. Open the .mod file in notepad, see what folder it's pointing to, and check 1) there is a folder with that in the mod folder itself (not in a sub-folder), and 2) that within this folder are folders named common, events, etc. (like the game folders).
