I've already noted this in the "CK strange screenshots" thread, but since it's probably a bug I figured I'd put it here as well.

I'm playing a game that's been going on since 1066. The Golden Horde arrives in the 1220s, like normal, and I expect to see them making their rampage across the East. But they don't do anything.

When I go over to look, I find out that the Golden Horde is a vassal of the High Chief of Ural. That couldn't be right... but it was true. They weren't declaring war on anyone because everyone around them was a part of the Tribe of Cuman just like them!

I wrote a little event to make them break off, which they did, got crushed, then reappeared and started their usual conquest.

I even have a theory as to how this came about: Kingdoms created by event seem to act like counties when they are first created. Since the Mongols showed up in a county which is part of the Ural duchy, they pledged allegiance to their duke. At least, that's what I think happened.
