Monopoly problem

Hey,

I've started a game first one without any cheats (I know, about time ), and I have a serious problem with monopolies.

I'm playing with Russia, and am around the year 1600. I managed to acquire a monopoly in the center of trade Moscow, and the centre of trade of Ak Koyunlu.
I even managed to keep them completely clear of foreign merchants.

But from that point on, the total trade value of the centers went down really fast! After a while, both centers of trade dissappeared, and were added to other centers.

Any thougts on what I did wrong?

Also, is it possible to create a center of trade?

CoTs require competition or they eventually disappear. So, don't drive everyone out of your monopolies.

It is not possible for a player to create a CoT in-game. You can, of course, cheat by editing a save file. Events can create CoTs, and another way to cheat would be to script an event which creates a CoT where you want it.
