I've been playing it since yesterday afternoon and I'm on scenario #4. So far it's been pretty fun.
It definitely feels like more than a re-skin. A big change is that you can't access any meaningful healers, at least not easily. I still haven't been able to make a shaman due to restrictions on the first few maps and due to resources afterwards, and the koatl healing totems are adorable but not too reliable since you can't command them. So that changes my play style, and it has me using more inns, carefully placed flags, and more micro-healing with the regeneration spell, etc. Oh and to account for this, the heroes are hardier than the human equivalents, especially those liches (omg, I love them).
If there's one thing I want that I don't have, it's a map to play the monsters in all their glory that *doesn't* have a timed objective. I have finally unlocked most of the units by scenario 5, but alas, it's going to force to me to hurry up and rush (just like #4 did...). I was hoping to find a *single mission* with the monsters but I can't find any. Am I just missing something? I even bought the DLC pack of 4 more missions, and to my disappointment they all started me as humans. If anybody wants to take a campaign map and make a standalone out of it, that'd be great. I suck at the editor.
Oh, and if you want to be really nice, tweak it so we actually have time to experience all of the new content and enjoy it (for example like Dangerous Valley). And you know, if I could take that map and switch it to monsters just for fun, I would...
So far not too many bugs, apart from a few typos, the fact that the narrator says different things that what is written (and that's a good thing, due to the weak translation), a disappearing ogre or two, and lich weirdness... for some reason, they seem to roll extremely high strength (12-17) and crappy magic (5-10) so I'm not sure what is up with that.
Anyway, wondering who else has it and what you're enjoying. And if you also want a nice monster glory map, speak up!
Update: I've also posted a review of the game, here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy....html?id=752480&tag=player-reviews;continue;1
