CK3 realy needs more building and they shoulnt cost that much and take that long to build.

If there are more buildings and building upgrades then it would feel like you realy building up your realm.

And ofcouse it also needs realism. As it is not so likly that even 1 barony county needs to collect funds for 20 years to build a barrack or archery range. In medevial times counts werent that poor that they need to collect money for decades to build small things.

other important thing is money and its value couse it dosent seem normal that writing a book or holding a summer fair cost a 20 year income of tribe, barony or county or why even a emperor would pay a steward or marshal a income of 20 years what duchy earns. Money and spending it should be scaled and it realy should have value.

As i seen from pictures where demense incomes are realy small like 0.44 coins also wages and service fees should be small like 0.003 or something on that scale.

Another thing would be prisoner ranson. I think no one could think poor count can pay 70 coins for it ransom, so this ransoming should be negotiable where you can offer any ammount and ai calculates your/his wealth and possibiltys

It don't just represent a building but building up a whole infrastructure which takes alot longer.

The ransoming system does need a rework, Geoffrey Chaucer (a courtier) was ransomed for 16L, meanwhile, King Richard's ransom was 100 000L, in CK2 courtiers go for 10, while kings 225 gold. That means 23 lowborn courtiers are as valuable as one king.
Such calculation should probably be based on realm size, annual revenue, situation (a childless ruler is far more valuable).
 
I would say the complete opposite.

Click spamming loads of very minor buildings is one of the most dull aspects of paradox games.

Focusing more on larger projects would be much more interesting. The development stat represents basic buildings as places become more developmented, manually built buildings should represent much larger projects instigated by a lord
 
It could be renamed to, "large scale land clearance and develop it for farms", but it's simpler to just say "build farm" and save space.
But, I always like little flavor texts at tje bottom of tooltips that give a little more explanation like that.
 
I think the game abstracts the process relatively well.

Even the poorest count in CK2, as I refuse to acknowledge unplayable ranks, can begin the construction of a building after a few years of tax collection. Some of the more expensive buildings might take longer but they are somewhat more involved constructions to undertake. Ringworks might take a month to build IRL but a "proper" castle, like some seen in Wales built into crags, could take many years to finish. In addition to being very expensive through labor. If anything some of the later buildings, like the last level of the Keep, should have had their construction time increased.

Oh, mortar also freezes and frozen mortar makes for poor building material. CK2 (and I imagine CK3) doesn't represent that when showing construction time but construction in the colder climates usually stopped around October and only resumed in April.
