Before preordering, i'd like more info on the game..

I'm interested in the similarities to Dungeon Keeper, such as possessing a minion and such..
I didn't like Dungeons at all though.

You don't possess minions in Impire, you control them directly- except for certain worker-imps that take care of some things automatically, like gathering food, materials and the like. Impire is just as much about questing outside of your domain and completing tasks as it is managing your dungeon. It's not "Sim Dungeon" really, since it has an equal focus on RTS-like fighting. It has been called "The Bastard Child of Dawn of War and Dungeon Keeper".

When you say "directly", you don't mean being able to control them in first person, but managing them like a typical RTS? (Command&Conquer/DawnOfWar)

I think he clarifies that when he says you don't "possess" them. It looks like you control them via top-down, like you would control a unit in a traditional RTS game.

Honestly, possession was pretty gimmicky. You'd just end up exploiting the range increase when you possessed a unit and it got stupidly hard to see anything in those tight corridors when lots of units were around.

It was neat at first though, I'll give you that. :)

If you purchase this game expecting Dungeon Keeper you might be disappointed. The game is not DK, it is Impire.

Fair enough, but do you guys have any decent interviews or previews with gaming media sites that I can read? Kinda want to preorder, but rockpapershotgun and its ilk havent really been on this game as hard as your grand strategy games.

Exactly. There is no "first person" mode in Impire. You can zoom down pretty low if you want, but all control of minions is handles in good old RTS fashion. Worker Imps basically just need to be given a job and they will do it autonomously. Combat-type Imps (and other creatures... Succubi, Minotaurs, Ratmen, Undead... there are LOTS to play around with) are those you will be managing the most. You can give them automatic tasks such as defend and patrol, but a lot of the time you will be using them to complete quests (together with Baal himself, who you always control as he has no auto-functions) and send on emergency Dungeon Defense Duty.

Think of it this way- your dungeon is a base of operations from where you carry out your nefarious schemes. Once it's up and running you mainly have to protect it so that it can supply you with more units and things to complete objectives.
