Taking inspiration from this thread:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...3-SUB-MOD-Title-CoA-for-dynasty-customization

My suggestion is this: could be the CoAs of major dynasties be added to the Customizer DLC? So, say, for instance, if we're King of the Iron Throne and the Stark go extinct after a generation, we can pick, if we want, the son of a Stark woman, and even if he has another surname, name him Stark and gave him the correct Stark CoA.

One of my biggest pet peeves with the mod is that houses go extinct too soon and too frequently: by having the possibility to change the CoAs to the correct ones at least we'd have some control over it if they are our vassals.

there are literally hundreds of designs used for all houses. :)
adding them all to customizer is months of work ;)

on the other hand...if its done. you could replace all title coa's with dynasty coas. so for instance the CoA of the Iron Throne would change with the ruling house.

if there is an interest for such sub-mod I'll help out as I have all the clean versions of the flags and designed shitloads more.

Oh, had not thought of that. Yes, it'd be a great improvement.

Doesn't the line "has_coa_on_barony_only = no" in the religion files achieve that. That's how we got the flags on most of the Essos regions. So wouldn't adding that line to the the_seven religion (or indeed every religion) do that for the Iron Throne?

try it, and see ;)

that line works only if the dynasty coa is based on parts from custom coa tga's.

Ah true, good to know, cheers. I was planning on using it in another project I'm working on.

What?? you CAN actually do that?? Have the faction/title CoAs change with the dynasties??? Please, make a mod, that would be BEYOND awesome!!!

I'll need help with it but sure if enough support it and help me I'm able to do that :)

also if someone finally tells me how to change the position and size of trait icons on the char screen I can comeup with something more :p

I'd love that.

How does it work in principle? A (long) while ago I looked into it but couldn't figure out how to make the christians CoAs be used for titles, like it does with the muslims.

Do you have to do a lot of workarounds? Like merging the predefined coa graphics with the graphic files that contain random coa elements?

yeah you need to merge them into the random coa elements. that takes time as you need to edit them properly. than you need to assign the correct elements (background etc) to the correct dynasty. potentially I'd say it's about 15-20 min work per dynasty.

Why do you need to assign any elements to the dynasty coas? Isn't it just:

1) put dynasty coa into random coa file
2) edit randomizer instructions so it does not pick from the dynasty coa section
3) edit dynasty definitions so it pseudoassembles its coas from the random coa file (only 1 background element needed)

?

Or is it more complicated? As in, do you have to dis-assemble the dynasty coas into the 2- or 3-colored constitutive elements that the randomizer could put together on its own? and then define the dynasty coas as a combination of multiple elements?

That would indeed be a gigantic, mind numbing task. (Perhaps you could have a crew of autists do it in record time...)

And is it possible to do this only for a few (prominent) dynasties at first, while the remainder of the dynasties stick with original CoAs? Or would you have to redefine the whole Westerosi culture to use randomized CoAs anyways, in order for this to work?

I think the GOT mod players should collectively lobby in the main modifications forum for the devs to implement a switch in the cultures file that lets title CoAs use dynasty CoAs without recourse to the muslim-random-coa-mechanism. It can't possibly be that hard, can it?

I don't know about part one. TBH I have not tried that. sadly also no time to test it right now.

the 2nd version would have a pluspoint of endless cadet branches possibilities :)

#1 yes you'd need to do it for all or nothing. otherwise the others would lose their dynasty coa.

#2 don't know :)
