Is there a way of modding things so that roads either become more visible or another colour?

That's a good question, they can be hard to notice.

I have another question about roads, actually 2.
1. What do they actually do? I can't find anything that actually says, I assume it increases speed but idk by how much.
2. Can the enemy use them? If so, they are meh I guess.

After looking at the files you can easily change them. If you look in the roads file under game\common\defines\jomini\roads.txt it has texture files and a bunch of other stuff to play with.

1. I believe I've read somewhere that they increase speed by 50%. However, "ROAD_MOVEMENT_BONUS = -0.5" is what's in the defines, so I'm not sure whether that2s a 100% bonus.
2. Yes.

EDIT: Thank you jimmyvbuck!

EDIT 2: There are very similar files in two places. One is in ImperatorRome\game\common\defines\jomini, the other in ImperatorRome\jomini\common\defines\jomini . I'll amend the width in both just to be sure.

I wonder if there's a way to stop the other countries from being able to use them....Probably not easily, probably would need to make a new custom thing like a road but not a road which sounds really above me lol.

But why? That has 0 sense.

Because otherwise it does not really seem worth the investment, even if that investment is not all that big. The main purpose of a road is to move your troops faster defensively imo, if the enemy can also use it who cares about them.

Also like RP wise sure, it makes no sense, but I don't really care, that's why mods exist, to make things more like we want them to be.

In another age, railroads were often built to different specifications to prevent just that happening. Alas, that won't work in this timeframe and I'm not sure it should.
