MP experience with 56k-modem

What are poeple's experience with playing a MP-game (not as host) with a 56k-modem ? Is it fast and stable enough ?

Ive played some with 56k, usually its playable, sometimes you need to pause it once every while tho. Of course its not a problem with my new cable i just got yay
