Hello Guys,
Been on this message board for months and months, reading and watching this game. Have been dealing with the bugs fine, love the new patch (1.02), however started trying to play Multi-player (MP) and have had a heck of a time getting it stable. Single player works great for me, never a crash etc etc, but when connecting to a buddy of mine via direct IP over the internet we consistantly get a latency warning, the game pauses, his game is listed with a number of "!!!!!!!" in front of it, and the game asks if I'd like to drop him and continue, save and quit, or resume. Resuming makes the game go on for me, but he's no longer able to do anything in it (and is frozen at the same date). Saving and quiting does just that, not a supprise there. If I manualy save the game, time starts up again for both of us, and I can hit "resume". We will run for around a day-game-time and then we get the warning again, paused, etc etc.
Game running at speed "below normal". Thing is once we ran for 6 months without this happening, many times we can run around 2 weeks and this happens. most of the time it's only a matter of a couple of game-days and it does this.
This is NOT related to the tactical-bombing theory that people complain on here crashes their games in MP. We have tried to run a game without using tactal bombing to see if it helped us...it does not. We have never crashed in MP, just this latency issue.
I'm running WinXP on wireless 1.3 mbps down/500 up. He's on Win98 on DSL 1 Mbsp down/500 up. Ping times are consistant at 90-110 ms between us. Taking 23 IP address hops to each other. We have completly uninstalled the game, deleted the install directory, and reinstalled with 1.02 patch clean, still having the issue.
What the heck is up? Other people seeing this happen a lot? Seems like we have the perfect setup for a 2 player MP game, yet with all these de-syncs we can't play a game for more then 5 mins at a time. Very frustrating. Let me know if you need any more information from me, but in general seems that issues are not a result of anything in particular we are doing with any units...
Thanks!
