As in the topic. I wonder if anyone else got this problem as well.

As soon as I open the German army general rooster and try to assign a general the game lags down completely for me. I can't change the general, so the AI has to do it for me. It isn't that fun as Germnany got the best generals.

I got rather good hardware and a decent ADSL connection so I don't think it is about such things. Anyone else who got experience about this?

I suspect that it has to do with Germanys long rooster of generals, far longer than for most other countries.

I wonder if it is possible to log in as Germany only and take care of such issues in single play mode without letting anytime at all pass of course.

Will such a "session" destroy plotted movements for other countries; who is played by humans under normal circumstances but not during this particular session?

So thats the reason you were having lag.

One work around could be to pause the game the 1:st of every month for a short while, enough time to take care of leaders.

But on the other hand several of the other major players, like SOV also have a rather large leader pool to choose from.

Really looking forward to the next game.

/C

yes, i should probalby be working now...

Yep, it is a pest not to utilize the generals as they are quite a few good one! :D

We will do as this the next time, I have talked to Hebos, we have one save with the Bulgarian fix only as reserve (save 1), and then we have another one (save 2) which I have done some maintenance with Germany in addition (no time passing of course).

If people think that their pre plotted movement is fecked, then we revert to save 1, otherwise we go with save 2. The good thing with save 2 is that we can use the whole evening for gaming and not idly waiting for GRÖFAZ to ponder on which general is loyal enough to be trusted. :)

As long as we got consensus I think it is fair.

Work?

Strange thing that I got this lag then, as I got 2 GB RAM

(gfx: X1900XT; CPU AMD +3800 OC@2,600 MHz, DL speed max: 8 Mbps)

Could it be that I am not the host so that my computer communicate with the host in order to get correct skill levels etc, each time I enter the rooster? I take it that you Fiendix is host in most games?

Thanks for the tip about pics, I do run GIP and Scytes (?) grafic mods so that can be a reason for lag too. Not that they have done anything with the general's pics AFAIK, but everything adds.

1) no i am never the host
2) yup GIP and scytes are not a good idea in MP. and IMO they are the reason u have lag.

I've had this prob in a MP game too as Italy a while ago. In my case it was iirc a leader that was assigned to a unit that caused the problem. Once i removed him the "lag" went away at once. Now i know it wont be fun to check all german leaders this way, surely it would be more work then as Italy ;)

I assume that you dont have this in every MP game you play as Germany from the beginning? If not, the easiest way to fix it would probably be if you uncheck auto-assign leaders, and then start to remove leaders from all your stacks untill you get the correct one. You could always give my "fix" a try, but im not sure it will work tho. It worked for me...

Edit: I never use any mods at all, and have as you 2 GB ram. So im pretty sure the error aint there, but has something to do with wrongfully assigned leader.

i have also had this problem in MP games..........it seemed to be ok after a simple rehost

Thanks for your replies. It gives some comfort to hear that others have had this problem as well.

I have had it for at least two sessions (about 5 hours each) so rehosting has not done the trick. If it is about a particular leader, then I hope I will remove him by random in the near future.
