Dear Linda,

I've had something i've been wanting to report but not wanting to burden you.. as i know you have lots of work. But, i'll make the report, free for you to chose to act now, later or never on it.

I often answer multiple posts in multiple posts of my own, because there is something i feel a bit messy : when you click on the "multi-quote" options of the posts you want to reply to, the option stays on after you have posted your reply. So, when a few minutes later, after someone answered to your post and you want to quote his reply... you quote again all the previously selected posts.

It would be nice if clicking on "post reply" would uncheck all the "multi-quote" options, please.

Friendly yours,
Gilles

If you hit refresh do they stay selected?

Yes, absolutely.

In fact, i was talking in my previous post (wheni said "when a few minutes later") of even roaming on the forum, answering other posts, and coming back, and the posts are still checked.

Does not happen like that for me. Hang on, let me try with Chrome. You run Chrome, right?

Edit: Nope, does not happen when I try with Chrome either. Sorry, it's not the forum, it must be on your end somehow.
Not sure what would cause that though. Have you tried another browser?

There is a setting in browsers that lets you select whether you reload a page when returning to it or to load from cache.
Refresh should solve that but try selecting a fresh load on each page visit.

I have this on three different computers, and at least two different browsers (Chrome indeed, and here Firefox). In all those cases, refreshing doesn't help. And in none of the cases did i touch the settings

Well, now I tried with Opera too, could not reproduce. Weird. I have default settings in Opera and Chrome for sure.
How do you do, can you step me through it and maybe I'll be able to tell if I do something different?

- I read the posts

- i click on the "Multi-Quote this Message" option at the bottom right of the post i want to quote

- except for the last, for which i simply click on "Reply With Quote"

- I write my answers

- i go advanced for the format

- then i post it

- i go to settings to see if there are new posts... roam

- if new message, i come back... and options are still clicked. On my different browsers and computers, the only way for me not to have the options still selected, i need to close the browser, and reopen it.

That's it!
As soon as you click "go advanced" you'll get the bug you describe. I was just writing in the quick reply, then it does not happen.
I'll see if it's reported over at vBulletin, otherwise I'll add it to their bug database.
Thanks. :)

While you're at it, could you check if the Firefox Spell checker bug is reported? If I use the quick-reply, the spell checker is disabled, if I use the reply to thread, or advanced, the spell checker is enabled (as is my default setting). That would be grand! :)

I agree, annoying! I'll check.

Glad i could be a service
:)

It has been reported and is not fixed yet. Have to wait for vbulletin for this one.

As for the spell check one, I don't think it was reported, so I entered it. We'll see what happens.

Thanks, this is great. I checked mozilla, and it's not seen as a bug with them, so here's to hoping that vbulletin can fix it.

If you hit the switch editor mode button on the right it'll enable the spell checker for your quickreply. Still annoying though.
