One concern I have about the multiplayer, is that I want to play a grand campaign with several other people and this would require quite a few sessions. Are there going to be any clubs or leagues set up so that you can easily find people who are reliable enough to meet regularly and get consistent games going?

Or will it be possible for players to join ongoing games..or have the AI takeover if a player leaves? And what will the max player # be? 8?

I believe this should be possible. From the MP AARs posted I think there have been players switching nations, and players joining in later.

Havard, have you tried MP, if not, why not? :)

I would have thought that like most games when a on-line presence develops that a community of sorts will spring up with various web sites, leader boards and leagues.

I tried it on a LAN I set up home one weekend, otherwise not. Why? I'm a "pause-player"... It freaks me out with all things happending and I cannot pause... :)

One thing that helps me is to set up my announcements system so that only the crucial stuff comes up in front of you. I’ve played Spain from 1492 at 1 minute to 2 months and did very well in what is a very very busy time with lots of explorers etc. It can be done, but its hard work and you have to think fast.

I also would like to play the grand campaign with several other players, but unfortunately I don't have so much time right now (or in the next few months). Hopefully I'll have enough time around Christmas.

I once played a Grand Campaign with a friend. 1 minute to 2 months worked very well.

All players must join before the game starts. No late joins, sorry...

Multiplayer supports 2-8 players.

:) P

But it is possible to join later when the game is restarted from a savegame? If not I'll withdraw my statement above ;)

I like this idea of only being able to join a game b4 it starts. It eleminates that factor if you wipe someone out they can't turn around with a different country(ies) and seek revenge constantly.

Nice registration date Patric ;).

My anxiety about multiplayer is mostly because of the length of the game, I hope I can find a group of people who are dedicated enough to meet regularly and complete a grand campaign.

I think you’ll find lots of like minded people. I’m just sorry its not more than 8 and that people can’t join in. That’s a real shame, would be a lot better considering the length of the game.

But trying to get 8 people together for any length of time is hard to do on consistant basis.
